Some days are hard, but no matter what, I know that I am so blessed. #nevergiveup #als

As the news gets out, I will make it official: Doctors say I have ALS. I’m very blessed to have a great team of friends and network that helps me daily. As the late Jim Valvano said, “Don’t give up, don’t ever give up.” Thank you for your prayers, thoughts and love. #ALS

So twice named 3A Player of the Year, three times first team All-State, both firsts on Sand Mountain and part of two state championship teams. Yep, Cole Millican is one of Sand Mountain’s best ever.

[DeWayne Patterson @dewaynepa]

What a day for our Mountain. Pisgah gets 5 in a row and Coach Ellison’s 8th. My old soccer rival, Coach Wynn and Section best story of the tournament and my boy, Coach Coker joins legendary Coach Cooley as only boys’ coaches to win three state titles on Sand Mountain.

[DeWayne Patterson @dewaynepa]

Plainview goes for a third state championship, which would tie my boy @robicoker with legendary coach Paul Cooley as the only boys coaches with three state championships on Sand Mountain. #plainview

In 1969, Section won a state championship in the first integrated state tournament in Alabama, which was a big deal. The 2022 version is also a big deal as they write their own “Hoosiers” story Friday. #section

[DeWayne Patterson @dewaynepa]

A historic week upon us. Skyline girls go for two in a row. Pisgah goes for five in a row and Coach Ellison’s eighth overall state championship. #skyline #pisgah
