@JustAFamilyMan_ U.S. OEMs operate slower than government. You wouldn’t believe the amount of waste, indecisiveness, and fraud that I’ve seen. They also doubled down on gas-guzzling trucks when oil was cheap instead of investing in EVs.
@draggingortrump Walk and talk is one way. Instead of sitting in a conference room, suggest a walk outside. This works for remote calls also. Instead of an email or Slack message, walk over in person. I used to get 10-15k steps/day easily doing this multiple times per day.
@trq212 Don’t get rid of the shift+tab hotkey for plan mode. Create a new hotkey to adjust effort. While I default to auto for most projects, there are situations where I am trying something new and need to slow down to review the plan and approve each step until I validate it works.
@DarrinEvans Exactly. If you’re difficult or awkward to be around, you’ll hit a glass ceiling.
That country hospitality wins people over in life and business.
Soft skills aren’t more important than hard skills, but they are crucial to success. Soft skills also include being able to “read the room,” knowing the exact moment to ask for the business, and being able to hold an engaging conversation with people of almost any background.
"soft skills" is the most retarded thing i have ever heard. there is no such thing as a "soft skill", they're all just skills. if you believe this HR propaganda you are being hustled.
I did this in my first software dev job. The Sr. engineer sat me down, restored the backup, and helped me fix the query. He said “it’s my job to keep things like this from happening and recover when it does.”
I’ll always remember his mentorship.
@themgmtconsult Twilio is horrible. I experienced something similar. I always advise people to avoid them at all costs. Try Resend. They’ve been great. Easy setup.
Bill Gates used to describe open source the same way in order to create FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt) and to limit consumer PC and software options. Dario is doing the same here in an attempt to protect their upcoming Anthropic IPO.
🚨ANTHROPIC CEO: OPEN SOURCE AI IS GETTING DANGEROUS
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei told lawmakers that open-source AI is moving down a “very dangerous path.”
His warns that once powerful models are released openly, companies lose the ability to monitor misuse, revoke access, or update safety guardrails.
@themgmtconsult 100%. A large org with a board and traditional leadership is only going with the brand name. This allows them to outsource risk in case something goes wrong. I’m currently working with SMBs ($5-60M) where the buyer is also the owner.
@simonw I agree. They tried to use a strongly worded prompt to restrict a dangerous operation like DB deletion. They should have used a hook (PreToolUse) to restrict this type of agent behavior.
@drantbradley All of EdTech is a scam. Most of these platforms are owned by PE firms that have figured out that school districts are perfect targets for their grift. Kids are better off with a raw curiosity, a pencil, paper, a whiteboard, and a great teacher.
@simonw Exactly. I (and a lot of people I know) started on the $20/month plan, then upgraded to Max (5x or 20x) after seeing the value.
If this is really an A/B test, it's poorly conceived and executed.
