@jonlovett Government has a legitimate regulatory role to avoid medical malpractice. When you have suspect organisations like WPATH operating on ideology rather than evidence (see the Cass review etc) this role is essential. An unregulated free market can be extremely dangerous.

Doctors in the field of paediatric gender “medicine” are performing invasive medical procedures on healthy adolescents without a shred of good quality science to justify their actions.

Any doctor sterilising a healthy child had better have stacks of the best quality research to back up the treatment. These doctors have none.

Any surgeon amputating the healthy breasts of teenage girls had better have mountains of the highest quality evidence to demonstrate that the procedure is medically justified and not a monstrous crime. These surgeons have none.

In truth, the field of gender medicine in North America is captured by the ideologues inside the World Professional Association for Transgender Health - an extremist trans activist group masquerading as a professional medical association.

In such a unique situation, when an entire field of medicine has been overtaken by ideology and is impervious to evidence or reason, it is absolutely the duty of responsible government to step in and protect vulnerable youth from falling victim to this devastating scandal.
