In the lead up to the Olympics I was asked to share a few thoughts on mindsets conducive to high achievement. Here's the interview: https://t.co/ImZ0V2Ay2k @ShiftNB Growth, Stress is Enhancing, and Gain-Focused Mindsets discussed.
There is something so special about watching people achieve a life-long dream. A dream that all odds are against them to achieve, but they go for it anyways.
Absolutely love seeing the Stanley cup get awarded!
If someone came over and organized everything, it'd be great, right?!
What if they put everything in a new place (although organized)...
Great intentions, but ultimately not helpful.
It's like our brain. Appreciate it's efforts, but say no thanks when thoughts aren't helpful.
I've been reflecting on what to consider when selecting interventions/skills.
I've identified 3 Es to consider. How ____(insert E)____ is the intervention:
Effective.
Efficient.
Enjoyable.
Happy to share our most recent publication!
Important points to consider:
1. We cannot assume measures for the general population apply to athletes.

More congratulations coming from the MAAC lab for Dr. Chris DeWolfe, who recently completed his PhD in Clinical Psychology under the co-supervision of Drs. Sherry Stewart and Margo Watt. We are so proud of you Dr. DeWolfe, great job!
The speech at my grad made me think of what message I would share.
My thoughts:
- The importance of relationships, both for personal and professional success.
-Balancing both the art (effective delivery of info) and science (having effective info to share) in your pursuits.
Avoiding exercise? Anxiety sensitivity is the fear of anxiety-related sensations like increased heart rate, shortness of breath, or brain fog. Since many of these symptoms occur when exercising, those high in anxiety sensitivity tend to workout less (DeWolfe et al., 2023). [1/3]
Happy to share our just published meta-analysis on anxiety sensitivity and physical activity!

If it rains for a day in ______ (*insert your favourite sunny destination*), you don't say it's a rainy place. It's a sunny place that rained.
So why after a "bad" shift/game, you may say you're a "bad" player?
Great players have "bad" shifts and sunny places have rainy days.
