Multiple international outlets reported overnight that al-Hamami, 29, the son of an Omani father and a Syrian mother, was banned from flying in Oman because of his extremist views.
At the time he was a trainee first officer at Oman's national carrier. The ban came in 2024, and he was moved into an administrative role. He left the airline in February 2025, after several years with the company.
Officials involved in the investigation, quoted by ABC News, said he is cooperating with his interrogators and told them his intention was to crash the plane in Israel.
💔 “Hit a mine or die of hunger”: residents of Oleshky are trying to escape the city on their own
According to Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, dozens of residents of occupied Oleshky are leaving the city today however they can — by bicycle, moped and on foot. There is no organized evacuation.
People are taking enormous risks: roads and roadsides may be mined. But, according to Lubinets, for many, staying in the city means dying from hunger and disease.
Ukraine is urging its international partners to push for humanitarian access and a safe corridor for civilians.

A Taiwanese studio made a film about the Cultural Revolution in 1981. China still will not let its own people watch it, rate it, or argue about it.
《皇天后土》 (The Coldest Winter in Peking) was pulled in Hong Kong after one day. On the mainland it was never released. Douban keeps the page and kills the comments.
Beijing’s own 1981 verdict called those ten years a catastrophe. It never published a death toll. Independent counts from local records put deaths around 1–1.6 million and the persecuted in the tens of millions.
The Blue Kite and To Live were banned for showing the same decade. Farewell My Concubine was cut before it could stay in cinemas.
If the Party line is “we already settled this,” why is the film still untouchable 45 years later?
A government that can narrate its own famine and purge does not need a foreign studio to do it. One that cannot, bans the foreign studio too.
