@JoeNewton1 If I was running OpenAI, I would let Anthropic twist in the wind right with their Fable-drama. Then when Fable 5 comes back, drop 5.6 and steal it's thunder. In fact, I wouldn't call it 5.6. I would call it "Non-Fiction". 🤣

I had a suspicion this might happen after the Elon deal.
This policy was our "on-ramp" to Codex.
And I'm grateful they did it, for 3 reasons:
1. We discovered where Codex outperforms CC
2. We will NEVER tie our product to a single model EVER!
3. We learned that Anthropic cannot be trusted.
My team and our customers are better off for it.

`claude -p` while you can! But don't count on it. If history is a guide...

I was thinking the exact same thing. I knew there had to be a price tag for the scare-marketing campaigns. They were handsomely rewarded for the mythos/glasswing scare. They went back to the well and they got bit.

@ClaudeDevs I was on a Fable speed run.
- Took a food break - came back
- Saw my usage was zeroed out.
- Then went to use Fable. It said, nope.

Curious?
Was this a "Sorry for the inconvenience"?
Or was it technically easier to hard reset?

The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees.

The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance.

Access to all other Claude models is not affected.

@JoeNewton1 I agree. However, when it comes to security, I definitely prefer overly cautious stance. Security in the AI era is still evolving. It's a pita but small price to pay. @AppleSupport will eventually figure it out?
