A supremacist speaks. Anyone interested in nationalism’s efforts to control the narrative and public discourse, read Chapter 7 of Culture War & how the BBC have normalised & relentlessly fawn over supremacists such as Donnelly.
At the Kneecap concert, which is part of Feile’s events, I saw children wearing Irish balaclavas? I saw Bobby Sands projected on the screen, beside masked IRA men in combat uniforms. I saw a picture of Margaret Thatcher edited with a bullet in her head. I heard people shout “F*** the Brits.” I heard tributes to IRA killers. Speeches about Irish language as resistance to British rule. Is this a byproduct of the “open manner” leadership you’re talking about?
Fleadh has been successful, precisely because it is not like Feile. If it were, no-one would be near it. That’s what happens when extreme republicanism doesn’t turbocharge cultural events with hate.
It’s been clear this week that unionism (despite the narrative that people like Chris want to promote) is an open, curious and welcoming tradition. It is Chris’ tradition that has closed streets and wants to lay claim with signage. One thing the fleadh has highlighted is the narrative about this place is wrong
@chrisadonnelly You sound almost disappointed, Chris. Unionists backed, embraced, and celebrated the Fleadh, despite you clearly wishing they'd shunned it. This success wasn't proof of your "New Ireland" propaganda, it happened in an inclusive Northern Ireland today.
Paddy Power love the early payout gimmick for Celtic, but they drag the arse out of paying the elderly women that had won over a million pounds. She took them to court and won.
If you ask them about it, they block you.

Ann Travers is a friend. She lives with the grief of her murdered sister Mary every day. There is no closure, no relief. The woman convicted of her part in that murder, Mary McArdle (who I also knew), has been begged for years to meet with @AnnTravers6 the Travers family or legacy bodies to give them details about that day. Ann wants peace and it isn't obtainable, because Mary won't provide it.
Mary McArdle is entitled to get on with life, but Catherine Connolly has a responsibility to society - and to victims - not to use her office to traumstise people. Due diligence? Her visit to the Falls Women's Centre was ill-judged. The photo of her beaming with Mary McArdle was stupid and causes great hurt.
On a separate note, Catherine Connolly and her team have been contacted by various media outlets since yesterday. They have ignored the contact. The Áras is part of a democracy, not a Trumpian dictatorship. It is utter contempt for the notion of a democratic Republic to not respond to press queries. Sort this mess out @PresidentIRL .

“The creation of the KMI panel is the latest step in the Scottish FA’s commitment to improved transparency and efficiency in refereeing and knowledge and understanding of the use of VAR in Scottish football”

Desperate stuff. Emma Pengelly is building bridges at the Fleadh and Michelle O'Neill is stirring sectarian divisions because powersharing means Sinn Féin can't get everything it wants.
This is why a united Ireland wouldn't work. Nationalists simply cannot conceive that unionists would have good faith objections to writing the GAA a blank cheque as it's mismanagement of Casement was projected to pass £400 million, or that it would be unfair to other sports.
More example of the SFA making it their way or the highway.
We had concerns of some of the names we heard were on the KMI panel but we were absolutely clear that an independent review of decisions was welcomed.
The SFA want to mark their own homework and block out any critics.
