Big news from the Zero Waste Forum! Amanda Di Perna won the “Emerging Leader” award at the Sustainability in Action Awards 🏆🌸

Pickleball is popping off in South FL — but broken balls = plastic waste 🏓♻️ Most end up in landfills or break into microplastics 🌊 Some cities are recycling them & using eco-friendly courts. Play smart: collect cracked balls & support sustainable design 💚
At beach cleanups, it’s not just about the big stuff — the tiniest trash matters most 🌊 Microplastics, butts, straws & caps are often missed but most harmful to marine life 🐠 Every small piece you pick up helps protect the ocean & our health too 💙♻️
Clean Miami Beach & 5 Gyres collected 20K+ litter items across South FL 🗑️
Key findings:
• 83% was plastic
• Nearly 50% = food & drink single-use items 🥤
• Tons of cigarette butts on shorelines 🚬
Let’s push for reuse, better laws & a cleaner future 💚🌎
We hosted the Zero Waste Miami Spaghetti 🍝 Social with 50 guests at Mids Market! Over spaghetti and kombucha, we swapped clothes, shared zero waste ideas, and mapped out compost and reuse hubs. 130 lbs of textiles diverted!
Meet the Scavenger 2000 🛥️—a vessel that collects 8,000 lbs of trash/week & purifies 10,000 gal/min in the Miami River 💧
It’s a powerful solution—but the real goal is prevention.
Let’s reduce waste & keep Miami’s waters clean at the source 🐙🔄
