Last week, five accused were arrested in M Rampur Range for hunting in Forest. Despite facing physical assault and injury, Forest Guard Miss Sarita Pujari and Para Squad Sri Karna Behera displayed remarkable bravery in apprehending one accused while others fled. Under the guidance of Investigation Officer Smt. Lilly Amantaya and FRO Shri Bharat Bandhu Sabar, led to the arrest of four more accused and seizures of illegal fire arms, cartridges and snare traps. Reaching an elevation of 800m in this challenging terrain, Shri Joshi emphasized the critical need for timely response and strict adherence to safety protocols. DFO, Kalahandi North, conducted a surprise inspection of the forest fire control operations in the Kesinga Range. The staff were instructed to remain vigilant and ensure timely detection and dousing of any forest fires. He also directed the field staff to clear leaf litter along roadsides adjoining the forest boundary to prevent the spread of fire into forest areas. @ForestDeptt
The Department is extending all possible assistance to the family of the deceased. As per the Anukampa Policy of the Government of Odisha, the family has been provided with immediate financial assistance of ₹1 lakh, and an additional amount of ₹9 lakh will be provided within 14 days.
Kalahandi North Forest Division has identified twenty beats that account for nearly eighty percent of forest fire incidents.
