Today I spoke at #AustralianCleanEnergySummit2024, where I had the chance to share the insights @AEMO_Energy has as the real-time system operator of Australia’s energy systems & markets & how this data underpins & informs our future planning. My speech: https://t.co/UR20R9RYlL
AEMO's published the 2024 Integrated System Plan, a roadmap for the #energytransition. It includes an optimal pathway of generation, storage & transmission investments needed to meet consumers' energy needs as we transition to a #netzeroeconomy by 2050. https://t.co/x8kKFBXXc5
AEMO has published the draft Integrated System Plan, showing that the lowest‐cost pathway for secure & reliable electricity is from renewables, connected by transmission, supported by batteries, pumped hydro & backed-up by gas. I encourage you to read it: https://t.co/G4fxOMVOIc
Our CEO’s @FinancialReview#Energy & #ClimateSummit speech highlights it's been 25 years since Australia boldly introduced the National Electricity Market. Our challenge now is to create an energy system fit for Australia’s net-zero future. Read more here: https://t.co/d7hXGpEqMN
WA’s Wholesale Electricity Market has new capabilities to support the State Government's energy transition strategy. Launched yesterday, the electricity market has been designed to facilitate WA’s future energy needs as it transitions to higher rates of #renewableenergy
On Sunday, the National Electricity Market hit a new minimum operational demand record (11,224 MW, down 169 MW), with #rooftopsolar supplying 51% of total demand. Records were also broken in QLD & SA, with rooftop solar meeting 99.7% of total demand in SA from 1pm to 1:30pm.
Yesterday, the National Electricity Market set a record low demand of 11,393 MW at 12.30pm, a 4.2% fall from the previous record set last spring (Nov 2022). At the time, rooftop and grid-scale solar contributed 57% of total electricity supply in the NEM.
AEMO has released its 2023 ESOO providing a 10-year reliability outlook that signals urgent development needs for each state in the National Electricity Market.
