The Trade Federation not *immediately* squealing on Darth Sidious after they're defeated makes no sense. These guys are cowards, he convinced them to take a huge risk that blew up in their faces, & Maul is dead. They should turn every scrap of evidence they have over to the Jedi.
@darthyucky Yeah, see that doesn't make a ton of sense to me either. I'm sure it's explained in some novel or something, but the guy was in charge of an illegal invasion and repeatedly attempted to murder two legitimate representatives of the Republic. He should be jailed for a looong time.
@hylariousbosch@KK10PL It's like a lot of ROS: a gesture at a fun idea that never gets explored. See also Lando rallying the whole galaxy with a speech he gives off screen.
@hylariousbosch@KK10PL There *are* rebel stormtroopers in Episode 9, but they're just random people riding space horses. We needed a big "Spartacus" moment where Finn leads the Stormtroopers in an uprising. It'd be a nice to parallel the Clones going bad by having the Stormtroopers become heroes.
@CiarliniKoerner I thought the Republic's lack of a standing army was a more recent phenomenon? Like they probably had one when there were groups like the Sith opposing them, but after a thousand years or so of peace it's been reduced to local defense forces.
@CISENJOYER Thrawn, easy. Thrawn is *supposed* to be a reasonable, if morally bankrupt, man. Tywin is a hypocritical, power-hungry thug with a penchant for tormenting his own son.
@TheLittleDrinka Dougram is an incredible series. I'll even be so bold as to say it "subverts expectations" in the right way in that its ending is very grounded and bittersweet. Every episode is a delight.
Dougram manโฆ what a show, i will miss watching it a lot and its safe to say its firmly cemented itself in a tie with Turn A as my favorite anime. if youโre at all a fan of mecha do yourself a favor and watch it
@DeltyThe73rd Generally, you want at least one 'Mech loaded with LRMs. Light 'Mechs can spot for them, which is very useful. Ideally you want your 'Mech loadouts to have a consistent optimal range, but having a generalist to support other 'mechs in a pinch isn't terrible.
@soncharm That'd be a very short sighted decision. Vader's ship is more than capable of capturing Leia's, and a ship full of rebels is a potential Intel bonanza. It's sheer bad luck that his underlings negligently let the escape pod go, & even then they *almost* recapture the plans!
@YttriumRapier@GwenpostingTTV I can't write off S2 for that & the Boba Fett episode. Fett is portrayed so much better in that episode than in his own series: he's both a guy with a strict code who won't break his word, but also someone who'd threaten to disintegrate a *baby* to get what he wants.
@ShawtyBrothers@MilkPls68 With TOS I get it because while TOS is an excellent show, much of what defines Star Trek evolved more fully out of TNG (& to an extent the films). So much Star Wars on the other hand revolves around the narrative & impact of the OT.
@wilsongrahams@Misopogon iirc this was even the canon in the old Marvel Comics. Luke & his pals go on a whole adventure to discover Hoth and establish it as the new rebel base.
@Trans_Lykeia I'm trying to remember what's established on screen in the PT. The Midrim vs Core Worlds thing wasn't that present was it? Most of the story focused on a conflict between the Trade Federation & the Senate, with the Separatists basically being an extension of T.F. interests.
@DeltyThe73rd Battletech: A Game of Armored Combat is one of the best deals in tabletop wargaming. About $50-60, comes with rules, minis, & maps. You'll get years out of just that box alone, but you can print out standees for more 'Mechs too.
