💰 A millennial's journey to financial literacy + living a rich life! Paid off 40k+ in CC debt! My Current Goals: 🎓 Paying through school 🆘 Emergency fund
After years of giving lectures, I finally got my sister to listen to my advice and she’s reading financial books. I’m so proud 🥲 been nagging her to get a CC for YEARS and she’s been so indecisive. Seems that she finally got around to reading the book I got her for Christmas! 🥲
As an elder millennial, one of the few perks is having lived thru The Great Recession.
My advice:
1. Reduce unnecessary expenses
2. Bulk up your savings
3. Dust off your resume & add to your skills
4. Boost your income w/ side hustles
5. Don’t stop investing & don’t sell
I hate AfterPay with a burning passion. I got into consumer debt and I just KNOW the kids who want stuff will learn the hard way if they use them. YOU DONT NEED INSTALLMENT PLANS FOR CLOTHING OMG.
"Buy now, pay later" services are prompting the TikTok generation to take on debt, per a new @SFGate article.
Some stats:
- Gen Z spends 925% more through short-term loans now than in Jan 2020
- 73% of Afterpay's Gen Z consumer spend is on fashion—heavily promoted on TikTok
I've been having some form of this conversation with white men for years now. My understanding of it as a moral ideology gets more and more refined over time. "Build nameless, faceless systems and blame them for the world's ills so that individuals cannot be held accountable."
I feel bad that I haven’t kept up with the blog for a while, but I did send two pitches off that I am CRAZY proud of. I really opened up and can’t wait til you guys get to read it and I can share 💖
@WomxnPF He is! I also called him the “fast food” to finance literacy… you’ll be fed and have food in your belly, but it’s not a foundation to good health 😂 https://t.co/33W8a8s4dI
Sometimes I’m reminded of how much money I’d save if I didn’t need feminine products or feel the need to purchase makeup for the sake of looking well-put together in the office 🥴
