@AnnTagonist_@mcuban …to a time in which patients pay for the medical services they receive. Disconnecting who pays for care from those who receive the care is at the heart of the problems with our current system. 2/2
@AnnTagonist_@mcuban If, as a culture, we’ve decided that healthcare is a right. (BTW, I don’t find that in the Constitution.) Why don’t we, as a culture, provide catastrophic coverage to prevent families from being crippled permanently? Then, we could return… 1/2
@TomMarsLaw@JayBilas Since most states use elections to select its judges, rather than finding a “good lawyer,” it has become more effective to find a friendly judge - one whose reelection possibilities are enhanced by a ruling supportive of the local team.
@Th_Angelopoulos@mcuban … policies you advocate. Free markets, with their risks built in and acknowledged by its adherents, will always outperform socialist economies run by a room full of “smart people.” Respectfully submitted. 4/4
@Th_Angelopoulos@mcuban Jesus said that we would always have the poor with us. This was not a harsh statement. It was merely a true statement. Free markets have elevated the living conditions of the poorest in their cultures well above those which have implemented the very… 3/4
@Th_Angelopoulos@mcuban Why? Because doing so would wreck the free market system that has produced the wealth these societies now enjoy. Instead, you ought to concentrate on how those in the lowest socioeconomic status in free markets live - far better than in centralized economies. 2/?
@Th_Angelopoulos@mcuban Free markets (well, relatively free markets) produce the greatest distribution of wealth the world has ever seen. You need to change your focus away from punishing the most wealthy by taking capital from them by force and giving it away to those with less. 1/?
@RossDellenger Doesn’t AG Ken Paxton also represent the interests of other public and private universities in Texas that could be impacted by the Sorsby injunction? Houston (public). Baylor and TCU (private). They might want him to look out for their interests as well.
@AndyStaples Andy - I’m sure they are studying it. The schools would have motivation to bargain collectively. They might get something back. I don’t see what would motivate the players to do so. It seems to me they have everything right now.
@NicoleAuerbach All the legal speculation is fine, but here’s my question? Why would the players collectively bargain? Don’t they have everything right now? What could they possibly give up (and when you negotiate, you give up something) in order to get something better?
@ChrisVannini@BruceFeldmanCFB Let’s not conflate these two positions. Texas is not going to give a lower in-state school an opportunity to strengthen its position.

@jhovey34 I really liked this, but I have to advise against people trusting their hearts. Scripture tells us the heart is deceitfully wicked. Don’t trust your heart without first measuring it against the truth of God’s word.
