நேற்று, நான் கரூர் சென்று உயிரிழந்தோருக்கு அஞ்சலி செலுத்தி, சிகிச்சை பெறுவோருக்கு ஆறுதல் தெரிவித்து செய்தியாளர்களை சந்தித்த போது, எந்த வித அரசியலுக்கும் இடமின்றி, மக்களின் உணர்வாக எனது கருத்துகளைத் தெரிவித்து, அதே சமயம், மக்களின் சந்தேகங்களையும் பதிவு செய்தேன்.

அதற்கெல்லாம் உரிய பதில் அளிக்க திராணி இல்லாமல், சமூக வலைதளங்களில் அவதூறு பரவுகிறது என்று கூறுகிறீர்களே...

என்ன அவதூறு பரவியது?

-உங்கள் கட்சிக் காரர்கள், "தமிழ்நாடு மாணவர் சங்கம்" என்ற பெயரில் போஸ்டர் ஒட்டிக்கொண்டு இருக்கிறார்களே- அந்த அவதூறா?

-உங்கள் அரசின் காவல்துறை பிரச்சாரம் செய்ய ஒதுக்கிய இடத்தில் உள்ள குளறுபடிகள், திமுக-வின் வழக்கமான ஆம்புலன்ஸ் அரசியல், தடியடி நடந்த காட்சிகள் வெளிவந்து, அதைப் பற்றி பொதுமக்கள் பேசுவது- இவை எல்லாம் வதந்தியா?

பொறுப்போடு நடந்து கொள்வது என்றால் என்ன?

உங்கள் அமைச்சர் ஒருவர் அழுவது போல் நடிக்கத் தெரியாமல் மாட்டிக் கொண்டாரே- அதுவா?

அல்லது, உங்கள் மகனும், துணை முதல்வருமானவர், கரூர் வந்து சம்பிரதாயத்திற்கு போட்டோஷூட் எடுத்த கையோடு, துபாய்க்கு Vacation பறந்து சென்றுவிட்டாரே- அதுவா?

கள்ளக்குறிச்சியில் உங்கள் ஆட்சியின் அலட்சியத்தால் ஏற்பட்ட கள்ளச்சாராய மரணங்களுக்கு கனக்காத இதயம், கலங்காத கண்கள், இப்போது மட்டும் கலங்குகிறதா?

இதில் இன்னும் கொடுமையாக, நீங்கள் அமைத்த ஒருநபர் விசாரணை ஆணையம், விசாரிக்கும் காட்சிகள் ஊடகங்களில் தொடர்ந்து வருகின்றன. அதைப் பார்க்கும் மக்களுக்கே, இது ஒருதலைபட்சமான, அரசின் தவறுகளை மூடி மறைக்கும் Eyewash ஆணையம் என்பதைக் காட்டுகிறது.

மக்களுக்கு விடியா அரசின் விசாரணை மீது நம்பிக்கை இல்லை. கரூர் துயரத்திற்கான உரிய நீதி கிடைக்க, நடந்தது என்னவென்று மக்களுக்கு உண்மை நிலை தெரிய,
CBI விசாரணைக்கு உத்தரவிட வேண்டும்.

Every day on Tamil mainstream media the debates are on alliance formation. Though nothing may have happened on that day to warrant a debate,these debates divert attention from the fact that these media houses are not willing to touch any story that may embarass the State Government in the slightest. There is now almost no difference between them and the Godi media in Delhi. No wonder their credibility is dropping rapidly and Youtube channels are gaining more traction. I disagree with a lot of what @SavukkuOfficial says or does but he and @Arappor have asked more questions of the TN Govt than the entire mainstream media and Opposition parties put together.
Imagine the resources available to mainstream media. Can they not at least investigate the stories that come out on Youtube channels and through activists like @Arappor ?

India's GDP touches 8.4% mark. This is massive growth. But, again the devil lies in the details, so you need to know the following points:

[1] The consumption in India has been very weak.

For every 1Rs of investment, the consumption should typtically (overtime) be 3Rs.

Else, think about it: why would people/businesses invest?

The consumption growth rate currently has been around 3.5%.

According to Pronab Sen, Former Member, Planning Commission, the difference GDP growth rate & Consumption Growth rate, should NOT be more than 0.5%, for things to sustain.

[2] In simple words, without a healthy consumption, the growth rate in the economy can't sustain.

[3] There is a massive divergence between the GDP numbers and GVA numbers.

GVA= GDP + subsidies on products – taxes on products.

So as per this formula:
a. Our taxes have increased
b. Subsidies have been withdrawn

[4] Modiji's government has done a great job in terms of cutting subsidies. Now, depending on your economic/political school of thought you might consider this to be a good/bad move.

[5] But the way I see this: subsidies being withdrawn is NOT a bad thing. This in the future, leaves the scope for bringing down the tax.

[Not saying that the government will bring taxes down, ever. But, at least withdrawal of subsidies is in the right direction]

[6] Most of the growth has happened due to government spending.

Government spends money when they have the budget to do it.

Government already seems to have exhausted this budget. In 2024 interim budget, the government plans to bring down the fiscal deficit (which currently stands at roughly 6.5% deficit)

[7] This in simple term means: that government is going to spend LESS money now.

[8] For the GDP growth rate to continue the private consumption needs to pick up.

But, unfortunately the income gap between the rich & the poor has become so much that: the consumption "pattern" will struggle at least for a while.

Think about it again: if top 1% holds Nation's 40% wealth, how much of it will they SPEND? (i.e consume), they can't -- it will again be diverted in the form of investments.

This is the fundamental problem we are facing as an economy.

[9] Solution: get better high paying jobs. Large base of people earn more. They spend more.

Unfortunately, this is NOT happening.

[10] What creates more jobs? (or decent paying jobs in the economy?)

I would argue having some kind of competitive advantage.

We are a low income country right now, which is losing ground to even countries like Vietnam (when it comes to textile manufacturing). And, there seems to be no plan to counter even such things.

Our biggest advantage is our hard working population. But, this is only an advantage if people get decent jobs to begin with.
