I love Reformed theology.
I am often saddened by Reformed culture.
The doctrines of grace should produce gracious people. Lord, reform us and teach us to speak to one another with humility, patience, and love.
Nope. I’d suggest you pick up a basic systematic theology. Pick a non Calvinist one, it will tell you the same thing. You need to understand what you are trying to refute and some learn basic Christology, before you use your flawed logic to promote heresy and use it as an argument.
@BatmanJ27190203@Generally_aware@Be_Like_JChrist Sigh, this is so weak. It’s what happens when you don’t do some basic study, trust your own flawed logic and think you’ve figured out something that has been explained for millennia. being temped is not the same as being able to sin.
I don't necessarily disagree, but the same thing happens on the right, being soft on sins of the right to avoid offending and many of them are actively apostatizing now (christian Nationalism).
I haven't listened to every Keller sermon or read everything he said, but I do think there is a time and place to confront sin and not unnecessarily offend. Not that we shouldn't offend when necessary, the truth is offensive, but I think some people are so eager to bash people's sin they forget that it is the gospel that leads to repentance. Not saying you are doing that, but I think many people just wanted him on TV railing against sin, when they didn't know his context. How far would a person make it in rural Georgia jumping right into the deep end with calling out the evils of Christian nationalism, maybe that isn't the first thing to address.
Anyway, probably a much longer conversation, but I appreciate your thoughts.
Almost 14 years ago, I was pursuing ministry in the Reformed Church in America (RCA).
A mid-certification interview was conducted by a group that included female clergy.
They asked about women’s ordination, and I politely told them I disagreed with it based on the Bible’s teaching.
They failed me on the basis that I didn’t “empathize enough with women.”
"Catholic heresy judgements" By that logic, you could also just discard these while you are at it:
Docetism
Marcionism
Ebionism
Montanism
Gnosticism
Sabellianism
Adoptionism
Manichaeism
Arianism
To name a few. Catholics and protestants have been in agreement on these for over 1500 years by the way, but hey "just me my logic and my bible dunking on the Calvinists" seems to work so well.
