Fanatics announced this morning an agreement to purchase CFTC-approved prediction market exchange Water Street Labs. $ terms not disclosed.

To date, Fanatics Markets has brokered for third-party exchanges.

@stevebrubaker My personal opinion? I think the CFTC is relatively confident it would receive a favorable Supreme Court ruling (see 0:45-1:30 of linked May 4th video). Such a ruling might or might not benefit Kalshi, however (Reaffirmed Authority, Major Questions, etc).

This week's expected ruling from the 2nd Circuit on Kalshi's emergency motion for an immediate injunction pending appeal is huge. If the CA2 denies Kalshi's motion, Kalshi will likely be forced to block sports trades in New York within the next 90 days.

Robinhood’s in-house prediction market Rothera may still have plenty of room to grow, as InGame estimates suggest that Robinhood is still sending more than a billion dollars of volume per week — or about 60% of total Robinhood prediction market volume — to Kalshi.

Virtually all the rest of that volume, mostly World Cup straight bets, goes to Rothera. But if all Robinhood activity went to the in-house exchange, Rothera could exceed $300 million per day in volume.
