π DH Website Services has been shortlisted for the Wales Prestige Awards 2027/28!
Iβm really pleased to share that DH Website Services has been shortlisted for the Wales Prestige Awards 2027/28.
The Wales Prestige Awards recognise outstanding SMEs and independent organisations across the region, with judging based on areas including service excellence, customer feedback, quality, innovation, value, ethical business practices and overall performance.
For a small, founder-led business, being shortlisted is something Iβm genuinely proud of.
DH Website Services started with a simple goal: build good websites and software that actually work for businesses - without the usual corporate bullshit.
We build websites, web platforms, booking systems, apps and custom software, with projects starting from around Β£600+ for apps and fixed-price website packages available too.
Weβre now looking forward to completing the next stage of the awards process and seeing where it goes.
Thank you to everyone who has supported DH Website Services so far. β€οΈ

We replaced a Β£200/month phone bill by building the phone system ourselves. Calls, queue, voicemail, 999.
Runs on Cloudflare and Twilio for pennies.
Sometimes the software you buy is worse than the software you own.

AirPods will be drawn this Friday!
"Can you build us an app?"
Usually the answer is no, and a website does the same job for a tenth of the price.
An app earns its place when people come back weekly. Bookings, loyalty, rotas.
Multiplayer runs on Cloudflare: a Worker, D1, and one Durable Object per match.
Durable Objects use WebSocket hibernation, so an idle match is evicted and costs nothing until the next message.
Whole thing runs on the free plan.
The daily challenge has to generate an identical tank on iOS and Android.
I ported the RNG by hand β xorshift64, bit for bit. Two traps in Dart:
>>> not >> for unsigned shift
BigInt for unsigned 64-bit modulo
Get either wrong and the two platforms quietly diverge.
The honest version of a launch:
our first Android release froze people's phones. It baked a gigabyte of textures before the first frame ever drew.
Fixed, shipped, and it's now the thing I test hardest.
Test on the worst device your customer owns.
"It works on the emulator" is not a test result.
The emulator has your desktop's RAM. The bug that bricked our launch was a memory bug. It could never have reproduced there.
Test on the worst device your customer owns.
Our first Android release bricked phones.
It baked ~1GB of textures in main() before runApp(). Behind the launch splash, so a failure was invisible and looked exactly like a hang.
Nothing heavy before the first frame. Ever.
