I feel like there’s this unspoken expectation that after 40, we should:
Tone it down.
Take up less space.
Be “realistic.”
I don’t really agree.
Strength training isn’t reckless.
It’s protective.
Muscle is not vanity.
It’s longevity.
Building your body doesn’t have to be ego.
It can be preparation.
You don’t have to shrink with age.
You can build.
And you’re not too late.

If you feel lost in a sea of fitness information, read this.
There’s a lot of advice out there.
Some of it is helpful.
Some of it is noise.
If you’re not sure where to start, let’s simplify it.
You don’t need a flashy plan.
You don’t need a 6-week overhaul.
You don’t need to go back to who you were at 30.
Take a breath.
Start here.
Walk a little more today than you did yesterday.
Lift something - anything.
Eat mindfully - prioritize protein, drink your water, eat your vegetables.
Then do it again tomorrow.
It’s a marathon, not a sprint.
It won’t feel extreme.
It won’t feel dramatic.
But over time, it works.
Start where you are.
It’s where I started too.
Build from there.

I thought I’d share my latest IG post here first anyone who can’t follow there. ❤️
There are several things you will hear from me over and over again. Not because I don’t have much to say, but because they are things that I literally can’t stress enough.
One of these things is JUST KEEP GOING.
25 years ago I weighed 300 pounds. I was unhappy and embarked on a weight loss/fitness journey that has now spanned a quarter of a century. Some day I will tell you guys more about it….
About the journey itself,
but also about so many stories along the way.
The struggles within me…
The many ways that life made it difficult….
And even some stories about people who made sure to point out my flaws along the way (it’s crazy when I think about some of the things people said to me.)
For today I want to tell you this:
I did a lot of things “wrong” as I worked my way back from 300 pounds.
My journey was far from perfect. It wasn’t linear by any means. It didn’t play out like a movie montage of perfect methods and progress…..
But I KEPT GOING.
I kept going through weight gains.
I kept going through injuries.
I kept going through some of life’s greatest pain points.
I JUST KEPT GOING.
And I am thankful. I’m not here with any pride at all. Just thankfulness.
So much thankfulness that I can’t help wanting to encourage other people in this way.
That is my heart for you and this account. Follow along for more of my story and practical advice to help you as you begin, continue, or maybe restart your fitness journey.❤️
