I love my country, South Africa. 🇿🇦 It's beautiful, our history is unmatched and I know every last inch of this place.

But I have been through - and seen others go through - too much for me to keep quiet on how violent our country truly is, where your very being will be dragged to the gates of Hell itself, leaving you to fight for your life.

Over the years I have personally responded to many scenes where violent crime has been committed. Where the scale of brutality is unmatched anywhere else.. where victims and survivors will never be the same again.

I have gone into houses and slipped in the blood of the dying. If you've never experienced someone else's blood in large volumes - you'll never understand what I'm trying to say here.

It's slippery.. smells like iron and sticks to everything.

It's something you will never forget.

And to see the life blood of victims on their bed, passage and walls - at countless scenes - only to be told that violent crime is "everywhere" and "normal" in many aspects doesn't make sense to me.

The sheer volume of rape victims who look at you, begging for help with their eyes. Too scared to move. Hands shaking. Uncontrollable wetting. Sometimes with a dead loved one in the room next to theirs and all they want to know is why.

Why them? Why did they survive? Why did help never arrive?

To see children torn to pieces by their attackers. Often gang raped. Alone. With no one to help them. I have been on many scenes like that. The youngest I can't remember how old.. maybe it's for the best.

I've responded to violence in townships that many wouldn't believe exists because it's so brutal. Where the unfortunate victim is tortured and hacked to death with panga's just to prove a point.. and more of the most barbaric stuff that you could possibly imagine.

Have you ever smelled a burning human body? A favourite of the townships is to necklace someone.. it's not fun. Really.

And things have changed. Nothing is what it used to be. Imagine pulling over to change a tyre and then getting murdered for your cellphone.. or hitting a spike strip and being forced to stop - only to have your husband shot dead and nothing but your handbag taken?

Hell. Even our elderly - over 80 years old - are being raped.

To see fellow first responders go into houses where entire families have been butchered.. all for a TV and maybe a cellphone?

And that's normal? Average crime hey? Just another day so why bring it up or talk about it? Happens to "all" countries. Who the fuck cares about what happens in other countries.. we live here. Our lives are here.

I love my country, honestly. But this is one of the most violent places on God's green Earth. And I will continue to post about what's happening - in all forms - whether you like it or not. It's important to me and you really don't have to read any of it.

You can turn a blind eye and ignore everything that is going on, that's fine - brand me as whatever you want to as well - but what happens when they come for you and suddenly it's your turn?
