🚁 The new AW189 helicopter took part in a crew exercise with Courtmacsherry Harbour RNLI’s on Sunday. This marked the first exercise by the Irish Coast Guard with an All Weather Shannon Class Lifeboat and is part of a continued training programme in the South West.

#OnThisDay 1920 Twelve members of the Schull IRA attacked the local RIC barracks having discovered the password (Kilmallock) to gain entry. They captured 13 rifles, 26 revolvers & pistols, 100 shotguns & ammo. Some of these were allegedly used at Kilmichael.

Hats off to A/BQ Scannel (1 Ord Coy) Sgt O'Keeffe (CMU) and Pte Kevin Hennessy (12 Bn) along with Cpl Killian Byrne (DFHQ) for their incredible teamwork and swift action yesterday at Kinsale harbour!
Currently on the advanced dive course in Cork and went above and beyond, responding with precision and speed to assist a 65-year-old sailor injured by a boom which caused a laceration to his head. Despite challenging conditions, they used their medical expertise to stabilise the casualty until further assistance arrived.
While administering aid, they seamlessly co-ordinated with local resources and coordinating with medical and helicopter assets. This exceptional effort ensured the patient's safe transfer to UHC for continued care.
Their dedication and professionalism in handling this critical situation embodies the DF’s commitment to excellence and teamwork!
