1. He is receptive to feedback from you
2. He is receptive to your feelings. Especially regarding how his actions made you feel.
3. It’s safe to disagree with him. He won’t make you feel inferior for feeling differently.
A man being honest about his shortcomings and traumas is not exactly him being emotionally available or emotionally intelligent. Stop giving men so much credit just for “being honest.” That’s not enough. Next time ask him “so what are you doing to heal through it?”

I keep my distance from people who don’t recognise a pattern within themselves, and how it negatively impacts their connections. it doesn’t matter if they say they are working on it, only their actions are evidence of true change to me. otherwise cycles just continue with them.

This tweet irked me a little because it hi lights how common it is for so many men to not do the basics of what a father is suppose to do, to the point that people praise or want praise for this. These aren’t “mother” deeds, this is called PARENTING.
