Announcing Dagger 1.0 beta.
Replace Jenkins and GitHub Actions with CI that matches the speed and scale of coding agents without wasting compute or tokens.
Featuring: test-native CI, dev shells, local and remote execution, official modules, and more.

Introducing cache control for Dagger modules.
Dagger executes your CI pipelines incrementally: when a pipeline runs twice, it skips work that’s already done and can complete faster. This caching process happens automatically, sparing you the pain of maintaining fragile configuration files.
But until now, only system functions could be cached in this way, and not functions defined in a module...
So, as of Dagger 0.19.4, module functions are cached by default.
To cache module functions by default, we needed a way to know whether your function is pure. A function called deploy() looks the same as build() to the engine, and caching the wrong one would break your pipeline. The solution is to annotate deploy() to let us know that it has a side effect.
That is the purpose of cache control.

Kubernetes the (Very) Hard Way - a new iximiuz Labs course by Márk Sági-Kazár
If you've been around for a while, you've probably solved one of Márk's tutorials or challenges. (Remember Kube Mysteries: The Invisible Pod? Yep. That was him.)
Inspired by Kelsey Hightower's famous Kubernetes the Hard Way guide, this course takes a bottom-up, hands-on approach to building a Kubernetes cluster from scratch:
- Install and configure Worker Node components
- Set up the Control Plane
- Connect everything into a fully functional Cluster
What does the "very hard" way mean? You won't just install each component and move on: you'll see exactly what it does and how it fits into the system as a whole.
Why is the "very hard" way the right way? Kubernetes is a complex system with many moving parts. To feel comfortable operating a production Kubernetes cluster, you need to know not just of these moving parts, but why exactly each part is needed and how they interact. So if you want Kubernetes the easy way in production, you need to study it the hard way.
Because the course is hosted on iximiuz Labs, you get fully controlled lab environments:
- No VM setup headaches
- No "why doesn't this work on my machine?"
- Automated verification tasks to check your progress
You can focus purely on understanding Kubernetes.
Márk has been releasing one lesson per week for almost two months now. The final lesson of Module 2 (kube-controller-manager) drops today, and the goal is to have the full course ready by the upcoming KubeCon EU.
The course is free for now, but eventually, it'll likely become the first independently priced course on the platform - and honestly, it deserves it. A lot of effort went into this.
Don't miss the early access! If you've been meaning to truly understand Kubernetes - not just use it - this is your chance https://t.co/7xYPWmowgL
Happy learning ❤️

Dagger 0.19 is out, with a LOT of improvements:
- Better performance (more on the way!)
- Run Dagger without Docker
- Local container export
- First-class support for codegen workflows
- Build-an-agent! Run tiny coding agents directly in your workflows, with perfect context
🧵
Coding agents have accelerated the software engineering process: we now write more code, faster than ever before. We're more efficient, which sounds like a good thing, right?
Well, it's a bit more complicated than that.
All that code still needs to pass through automated checks, code reviews, and any other quality gates in place.
Anything manual in this process easily becomes a bottleneck. People struggle to keep up with review requests, and safety checks are often bypassed to maintain momentum, which is far from ideal.
What can we do to address this?
Perhaps AI could be the solution.
Consider integrating AI into the CI process to automate as many quality gates as possible (yes, even much of the code review).
