Donyngs Indoor Bowls club is a fun, friendly indoor bowls club for all ages. It has great facilities, including six rinks, a restaurant, and a licensed bar!
In sweltering conditions today, the team from Donyngs secured second place behind the home team from CMO in the Borough BA's 90th birthday match, winning £100! Half of the prize money will be donated to the Donyngs' nominated Charity!
Last Wednesday was the annual Ladies vs. Men contest. This hugely popular event filled all six rinks, and this year, the ladies regained the trophy held by the men for the last two years. The final score was 92-76.
Well done ladies!
There was a strong turnout for the Club Coaching Day yesterday, covering theory, practice, and head reading. A big thanks to all who attended, especially the coaches who made it all possible!
Julie, Lynn and Sandra posted a great victory over a strong team from Sutton last night in the National Ladies Triples, taking three in a thrilling last end to win the match by two points.
Well done, Ladies of Donyngs, and good luck in the next round!
Donyngs goes green!
Donyngs is proud to announce its green initiative, with 120 new solar panels now up and running. These panels will generate up to 60 kWh of power, helping us all do our bit to save the planet!
The Donyngs men lost out to Wey Valley in the Double Rink yesterday. We started well with John and Steve outbowling their front end and Trevor and Keith covering the possibilities if the jack moved. Wey Valley started to pick up a few and got their confidence back on long jacks.
We had a great friendly match against Caterham on Sunday. Donyngs won on four rinks, Caterham on two. But the result is secondary to the turnout, with six rinks of triples filling the club, with plenty of spectators coming for the carvery.
Massive kudos to Sheila Williams and Alan Moore, who picked up a Bowls International Hot Shot award for scoring the maximum eight points. Nobody ever mentions who was on the wrong side of these achievements, but let's hope that whoever it was isn't permanently scarred 🙂
Congratulations to the Donyngs ESML team, who recorded a convincing victory over King George Field on Sunday. Well done, folks, that monster +45 shot difference might come in handy when we get towards the end of the season!
ESML yesterday: Donyngs pulled off another great win over Mole Valley, keeping their unbroken winning streak for this winter season.
Keep up the good work, guys!
Yesterday, the team of Steve Whiting, Trevor Pocock, David Hall and John Harwood narrowly beat Horsham in the LSCBA Men's Fours 🎉
In all the excitement of winning, none of them remembered to take a photo, so here is an image of a seagull instead, courtesy of Darren Rosser
Donyngs vs Wey Valley today in the Denny Cup. Donyngs started strongly, with the away games running much quicker than the home rinks. Wey Valley emerged the victors, going through to the next round with an incredibly close 71-72 win.
Well played guys!
Caterham Round Table came to see us last night for a fun evening of bowls. After a bit of coaching by the Donyngs team, the lads were fiercely competitive and had a good couple of games. The restaurant provided them with a lovely meal, and we hope to see them again soon!
Donyngs came out on the wrong end of an 81-74 loss in the Egham Trophy today against Mole Valley (who we beat in the Denny yesterday). It really was neck and neck until the final end.
Apologies to Trevor; someone had already partly dismantled the board before I took the photo🤣
We are calling all members. If you are available to help bring on the new bowlers this evening at the taster session, please get in touch with Elaine Fawcett or Ralph Wycherley.
Help Wanted!
We have almost sixty new bowlers coming to the taster session on Wednesday evening (2nd October).
