@mi18910@RutgersAltRoute I find that so frustrating. I try to encourage my students to turn in their work, even if they don’t love it, but it’s hard to do in a subject like art where work can be very personal #TeacherEd GrowthMindset
@Mrdeehanclass@RutgersAltRoute I find this helpful in ceramics classes. There isn’t much you can do nice a piece is glaze fired, but we can look at it as a guide for what to pay more attention to on the next project #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@elmichi89 @RutgersAltRoute I do something similar with midpoint and end critiques. Students anonymously comment on their peer’s work at the halfway point and suggest things to add, and again at the end of a project - allows them to see if their feedback was used #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@Sharlene_Laud@RutgersAltRoute I’ve implemented anonymous “glow, grow, and guide” critiques in my art classes. students share one good part of a piece, one not so good, and a suggestion on what to try next. It seems to help answer the “ what do i do now” #TeacherEd#Growthmindset
@cisneros_RUGSE@RutgersAltRoute Agreed. I will never straight up say a student’s work is bad because that will just shut them down. I’ll go for something like “this is a good start, where can we go from here?” #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute I encourage reworking projects for extra points. Students have the opportunity to get additional feedback n their work, implement that feedback, and resubmit #TeacherEd#SpecialEd
@ruthsjim@RutgersAltRoute I have so many students who refuse to try in art class because they aren’t “art people” art doesn’t have to be aesthetically pleasing to reap benefits from the creation process #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute The biggest struggle I’ve come across with student mindset is getting them to care about my classes. As an art teacher, my subject area is seen as lesser than the other academic subjects. #TeacherEd#GrowthMindser
@TDown32@RutgersAltRoute Being informed is the first step. IEPs are a lot to sift through - Im curious if there is a way to summarize a student’s accommodations in a shorter document for at-a-glance reference #TeacherEd#SpecialEd
