The US Navy should mine the SOH permanently in such a way it cannot be opened forever.... and leave.
We don't need it. Barrels per day are rising faster than anyone expected. Resrves are higher than anyone admitted, and demand is dropping like hot rock.
🌎 The world may be adapting to less oil demand faster than many expected.
According to the article, JPMorgan strategists suggest global demand may have declined by as much as 9%, driven not by a formal conservation push, but by consumers and businesses shifting behaviour in response to higher fuel, diesel and airfare costs.
🚗 Fewer oil-based trips
🚆 More rail, transit and EV adoption
✈️ Some airline route reductions
⚡ A gradual shift toward cheaper, lower-carbon alternatives
The key investment question: is this temporary demand destruction, or the early stages of a more durable change in global energy consumption?
For investors, energy remains critical, but the long-term demand curve may be changing more quietly than the headlines suggest.

This is not correct. reserves are divided in 2 categories, crude reserves which are currently 5 to 5.5 billion barrels and kept in vault-like storage in sequestered tanks and salt caverns. All but 1 billion barrels of tank bottoms is readily deployable... or about 45 days of global consumption.
and Just in America where we are running PAAD 3 at 97% we have 27 days of stocks to use... That is a fucking huge amount of crude oil...
The other reserves are in product form and held in secondary storage post refining. That category is about 2.9 billion barrels and it is necessary for line fill to maintain minimum pressure and working stock, tankage at terminal export loading points etc.
The operational floor for products... which is about 1 billion barrels.... is extra refined stock...It might be reached if and when refineries EVER EVER run out of oil. And shutting the SOH ain't gonna do that for a very very very long time. just sayin'
“A guarantee.”
“A stone cold lock.”
Because of all the comments I got to my bearish energy post I wanted to double my oil short. Fortunately got a chance yesterday to add.
