The Progressives and Socialists are going insane over Milei's election not for the reasons they claim, but because of what his election represents: normal people don't want the bitter fruits of a modern managerialist state, the sort of state that exists all across the West. Rather, they want liberty. They want the world that existed before WWI, a world where people were free to live and innovate, to do as they please and to have a currency they could rely upon That world is now gone across the West. Our currency, instead of more or less holding its value from 1816 to 1913, has been inflated away to nearly nothing. That's even more true in Argentina than America. To do business, you now have to wade through a maze of impossible regulations and petty bureaucrats. The Wright Brothers didn't need a single permit to build the world's first airplane and usher in the age of flight. Now you need a permit to build a pond on your own property. Cities used to be clean, well-managed, and relatively crime free. Yes, there were pickpockets and pollution. But you could walk around town without having a homeless vagrant assault you and be commended for doing so by the majority of the powers that be. More examples abound, but are hardly necessary. We all feel the state as it currently exists is failing at its basic duty, enforcing a basic set of rules that lead to an environment of ordered liberty, and can see the bitter harvest of that failure all around us. While that's American-centric, much the same is true of Argentina since the early 20th century. Their currency is an utter failure, their regulations are out of control, their government is sprawling and inept, and their country, once immensely wealthy and incredibly successful, has fallen to pieces. Gone are the days of a GDP per capita on par with Great Britain, these are the days of a GDP per capita below that of Mauritius. And so the Argentinians finally revolted and brought in Milei. He has faults and might prove a disappointment, but at least he represents a chance of taking a chainsaw to the managerial state and bringing back the world of ordered liberty that used to exist. And if he succeeds, if he has even a fraction of the success of Bukele in El Salvador, then the world, particularly the West, will have an example of the golden future that awaits them when they shake off the shackles and fetters imposed on them by their current socialist states, by managerialism and its dire consequences. We'll see if he succeeds. But the mere implications have the Regime shaking in its boots

@DC_Draino I probably wouldn't have reposted this story but my cousin took the vax and spent a month in the hospital with mysterious blood clots, he was under 45 and a former marine.
