Ukraine's new interceptor drone hits jet-powered Russian Shaheds that fly like cruise missiles

Russia's jet-powered Shaheds can cut Ukrainian mobile fire groups' reaction time from about a minute to as little as six seconds. Ukrainian drone manufacturer Wild Hornets says its STING interceptor destroyed about ten Geran-4 jet drones and several Geran-5s—functionally small cruise missiles—in limited deployment, the company reported to NV.

The Geran-4 and Geran-5 are not ordinary Shaheds—they reach up to 600 km/h with roughly 90 kg warheads. Wild Hornets built the new interceptor from scratch as an entirely new product. Its Hornet Vision Ctrl system lets experienced pilots operate multiple interceptors across sectors at once.

The company said its AI integration is aimed at assisting the operator and that it knows of "no fully automatic interception system proven in combat." Mass production is about a month away. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said 67 companies are working on interceptors, and at least 20 were racing to field them by early September.

Moscow times reports - Russia Launches Its Largest Oil Field

After several years of delays, Russia has launched the commercial export of oil from the "Vostok Oil" cluster of fields – the largest new oil project in the country since the collapse of the Soviet Union.

According to Reuters, Rosneft has begun loading four ice-class tankers at the "Bukhta Sever" terminal to send the first shipments of "black gold" from the project, which combines more than 13 fields in the Taymyr Peninsula and Eastern Siberia, with reserves of approximately 51 billion barrels.

The potential of "Vostok Oil," which is personally overseen by Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin, was previously estimated at 2 million barrels per day, which is more than 20% of Russia's current oil production. The project's reserves account for approximately one-fifth of all explored oil reserves in the country (220 billion barrels, according to data from Rosnedra). This makes the cluster comparable to Soviet-era oil discoveries, such as the giant Samotlor field in Western Siberia, which became the foundation of the Soviet Union's oil power.

There are no other fields with comparable resource bases left in Russia. In 2017, Rosnedra sold the last major field from the undistributed subsoil fund – the Erginskoye field in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, with reserves of approximately 100 million tons (also acquired by Rosneft). The deposits discovered in subsequent years were mostly classified as "small" and "very small."

In the initial phase, "Vostok Oil" will export only 150,000 barrels per day, which is significantly less than the initial ambitions, according to sources in the industry who spoke to Reuters. Rosneft plans to increase exports to 600,000 barrels per day (30 million tons per year) in the second half of 2027, with the commissioning of the Payakh group of fields, and to reach 1 million barrels per day by 2030.
