In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.
This scene from Wake Up Dead Man is by far the best scene of the year. The mystery comes to a screeching halt for a beautiful and unexpected moment of quiet. The switch Father Jud makes from being annoyed at Louise’s constant interruptions and talkativeness to immediately being tuned in to her pain and being a source of warmth and support for her is unbelievably moving. In a split second, Jud selflessly puts aside how his life and occupation are on the line, shelves the murder investigation, and gives every inch of his attention to a complete stranger in need. As great as @rianjohnson is as engineering an enthralling whodunnit, he’s perhaps even better at injecting unexpected moments of real heart into his films. Josh O’Connor and Bridget Everett beautifully bring Johnson’s words to life - two incredible performances. A phenomenal scene @netflix@KnivesOut
“Luke Skywalker saved his father, he would never-”
Yes ok but he also tried to kill him for threatening ONE single person he cared about. This is him acting on his fear.
