People don’t want advice. They’re desperate to be heard by a calm person who doesn’t try to fix it. They already know what they’re supposed to do— they just want you to listen.
When narcissists see someone with qualities they lack—like empathy, authenticity, and inner happiness —they experience intense resentment. But admitting to themselves or others that they hate you for being a good person would expose their own inadequacy. So instead, they manufacture a narrative that paints you as the problem.
They’ll twist reality to make you seem like the abuser, manipulator, or other negative qualities they know people will easily accept without looking deeper.
They need a justification for their hatred that keeps their fragile self-image intact while also manipulating others into siding with them.
It’s not you, it’s them.
