last call for pitches for Issue 4 of @itsDTGA — Bundled Up! Please share and pitch and help me cap off the end of the year with video game love and criticism 🤠
For @ButWhyThoPC I wrote about the insidiousness of EMILIA PÉREZ, a deeply irresponsible narconovela that knows nothing about México's sociopolitical landscape.
Jacques Audiard depicts México through his racist and narrow first-world lens.

this winter will be my fourth annual Klaus viewing on Christmas Eve, a commendable thing because the animation is SO INCREDIBLE, it alone made a Jew start a Christmas tradition.
there’s a lot that Emilia Pérez doesn’t say or do well in regard to political commentary, but it *is* a campy, melodramatic blast. Audriard meets his material as you’d suspect a 72-year-old Frenchman would, but that doesn’t mean it’s entirely without nuance.
give it a watch!
@polycarbonfox i truly thought we exposed the Lincoln Project as major grifters in 2018 AND 2020, I couldn’t fathom why they were back on my timeline this year
one day, maybe, democrats will stop chasing the Obama years and realize futility of courting Republicans and undecided centrists rather than building coalitions with the left who want to actually make a meaningful difference in this country.
burn it all down.
This is the chart. She spent months courting Republican endorsements, riding the 2016 Clinton strategy to certain defeat. They risked it all to build a centrist party of suburbanites and college kids and lost. It’s time to move on but I don’t think the Dems will move with us.
this is currently the only positive thing to come from tonight. i’m so proud of New Yorkers for protecting abortion rights and not succumbing to the anti-immigration and transphobic vitriol from the right.
BREAKING: New York has passed #Prop1!
New Yorkers used their vote to permanently protect abortion statewide, and showed up for LGBTQ, immigrant, and disabled New Yorkers by approving the most progressive and comprehensive state Equal Rights Amendment in the country.
There's nothing wrong with undertaking a piece that meaningfully interrogates this question—but to spend 5,000 words without quoting a single VFX worker or union member fighting AI as we speak, while quoting plenty of AI executives and big name directors, is really irresponsible.
my review of #EchoesOfWisdom surprised even me, so i think it’s a must read, and that’s on top of all the other incredible writing packed into this tiny (cheap!) magazine.
Did you know we brought #SwitchPlayer back? Our latest issue is out now, with our #LegendOfZelda#EchoesOfWisdom review and all sorts of cool #NintendoSwitch related awesomeness. In print. Miss the days of #Nintendo magazines? Then you’ll love this.

Kate has worked so hard to build a vital space for necessary conversation in media criticism. ButWhyTho is a necessary voice for diversity and deep thought and everyone who can should consider funding them.
This is by far the hardest thing that I've had to write.

Since 2018, Matt & I have run @ButWhyThoPC with the goal of being self-sustainable. We don't take pay, we pay out of pocket when needed, and try to make revenue with ads when we can. But 2024 has been devastating. So now, we're looking to crowdfunding to help us stay operational. It would mean the world if you can donate, but if you can't, please just share.

This is a nice bonus for Switch Online in theory, but they need to update it to include composers and performers for each track ASAP, and it’s ridiculous that they didn’t include that info to begin with.
