Listening to @AndreaAkalleq describe her commitment to “acknowledging rights” and “network weaving” when addressing climate justice in her work at @nature_org
"You have to recognize that Alaska is a #NativePlace and you are on #NativeLand"
#ClimateJustice work is not new to our Elders .. we're picking it up and carrying it forward. Check out this new collective film https://t.co/IUWxDyTjVb
This is how my three boys felt yesterday after finishing their first week back at school. I’m so proud of them and all of their @MilwaukeeMPS teachers for welcoming them back to another year. Thank you! 😌🤩😌
So thrilled to have the print copy of the fall issue of @RethinkSchools!
In my essay, I detail how my Black girl co-researchers and I collected oral histories from our loved ones and turned the stories into art: https://t.co/HT6h7lK6fe
This thread on giving feedback is a thoughtful set of approaches for responding to student writing — and a fitting bookend to #currins547 and the semester as a whole. Thanks @danmartin_7
There should be classes on giving feedback on writing. It's really hard to do well. Making feedback that allows someone to continue learning, build confidence, & stay motivated at the right time is very hard to do & takes practice. Feedback can't just be a reaction to learning.
On this cloudy Earth Day in MKE, I'm inspired by the power of trees and their underground "mycorrhyzal networks" that build resilience through interdependence. How might we mimic these networks as teachers?https://t.co/Y5k61gvx3x
“The academy is not paradise. But learning is a place where paradise can be created. The classroom, with all its limitations, remains a location of possibility. In that field of possibility we have the opportunity to labor for freedom”
– bell hooks (p207 Teaching to Transgress)
@GregoryMichie I felt the same way when we had to cut down a dying Hawthorn in our back yard. I took photos of the stump to remember its presence from its stronger days. Thanks for sharing the beautiful shots of your giant
@chrisemdin@kellyreneeallen Kelly, you continue to inspire me, my students, and my teachers. I know that you will support so many more teachers and scholars with your story, your rhythm, your passion. Keep it going. <3 <3 <3
We are so glad to have supported you on your journey and are still here whenever you need!!!! Keep going!!!! The world needs your passion and brilliance #HipHopEd
Collage processing while I listen to delicious conferences sessions about “beloved teacher community,” “justice-oriented mentoring” and “love-based activism.” Thank you #Ncte2021
Reminiscing the good words & vibes at the Milwaukee stop of NWP #WriteAcrossAmerica marathon this week. "The Milwaukee Map Mix" created by @anomalysoul rocked the house, reminding us that with struggle comes confluence & transformation. Take a listen: https://t.co/b07RWdiNIa #fb
