This is Samarkand, the oldest living Persian city, older than Isfahan, Tehran, or Shiraz. Eskandar (Alexander the Great) knew this city.
In 19th century, this city, abandoned by Persian Empire and under Turkmen (Uzbek) occupation, was in a state of decay, practically dead, when Russian troops entered after crushing the Turkmen resistance (As always with theim). local Persians, called Sogdians, who are very similar to Pashtuns and our Ossetians, welkmed us with open arms. RUSSIA SAVED SAMARKAND and BUKHARA. Tzar Aleksandr (Eskandar) III even brought in French architects who helped restore all the mosques, Shia madrasas, as well as the tomb of the holy prophet Daniel and Emperor Timor-Lang (called Tamerlan in West ; the first Ataturk in History)
On September 2, 1752, Britain used the Julian calendar for the last time, going to bed as Wednesday, 2 September and waking up the following morning as Thursday, 14 September, with the 11 days in between simply erased from history.
The switch to the more accurate Gregorian calendar was made to correct centuries of drift caused by the Julian calendar's slightly inaccurate leap year system, bringing Britain finally into line with most of Western Europe, which had already made the change back in 1582.
The popular story of furious mobs rioting in the streets demanding "give us our eleven days" is now largely considered a myth, likely inspired by a satirical William Hogarth painting rather than any real historical unrest.
Some people genuinely feared the government had somehow shortened their lives by 11 days, while the tax year end was shifted from 25 March to 5 April to ensure nobody was unfairly taxed on a shortened year, a quirk of the calendar reform still in place today.

The DUP would not accept a republican march through Rathcoole, Markethill or other unionist areas.
So why does political unionism continue to demand that Garvaghy Road residents accept an Orange parade through their community?
“Por eso podemos decir que los vietnamitas no solo lucharon por ellos: ¡lucharon por todos los pueblos del mundo, lucharon por la causa de la liberación de la humanidad, lucharon por la causa del socialismo y del comunismo! Los hombres que allí murieron, murieron también por nosotros. ¡Y la humanidad agradecerá eternamente esos servicios a #Vietnam!”
