Love being back in Albany for the New York State Family History Conference, from @nyfamilyhistory. This is my first in-person conference since @RootsTechConf 2020(!) and I'm thrilled to be giving two talks - here's a pic from today's! #NYSFHC
I just looked up my #NYC apartment building in the #1950census and, to my delight, residents are enumerated including their *unit number* - a rarity in earlier censuses. I found the couple living in my apartment in 1950, and clearly I'll now be up all night researching them.
9 minutes in, and just found my first relatives in the #1950census. Workflow that is easiest for me right now is to use the @Ancestry district finder (which lets us search by address), and then browsing through the images by town (and then ED) on https://t.co/53pm5N9rQn
I'm looking forward to presenting "21st Century Italian Genealogy" for @FountaindaleLib tomorrow night (Weds. January 12th, at 7 PM US/Central time) - free webinar registration is open to all! #genealogy#familyhistory#italian#italy https://t.co/bgQbofg8mK
So I saw this Facebook notification and wondered what combination of buttons I had possibly pressed during a late-night research binge. Then I realized it was just business as usual. :) #genealogy#dating
And sometimes you finish recording the webinar you've been prepping for weeks, and you feel really good about it! But then you open the file and realize you had started your PowerPoint but never shared your screen on Zoom. So... it's just a video of you talking and no slides. :-|
Dear government orgs: Don't be stingy with giving genealogists access to records that are or should be legally open to the public. RTR may sue you. Save yourself the trouble and make your records available.
@miyajensen Sicily. Was supposed to take an extended research trip there last year (would have been my third time doing research in my family's village - but the on-site church records are amazing and go back to the 16th Century) - but with the shutdown it hasn't been possible.
Still fear of being buried alive in 20th century. Will of relative - 1977: “I direct my executors to call in an independent medical man to examine my body & by opening an artery or otherwise definitely to ascertain that I am dead & not merely in a state resembling that of death”!
WOW. This new @MyHeritage "Deep Nostalgia" photo animation tool is... next level. I just tried one of my great-grand-uncle and it's eerily life-like! Have you tried it yet? https://t.co/9Umctk2POa #RootsTechConnect
