The team is growing! We're excited to announce that Merissa Coello (@merissa_co) has officially joined the team as Environmental Program Manager! Merissa has been an invaluable part of Vespene for some time, and we're thrilled to have her on board full-time as we move forward.
This is cool tech for sure, but capture and utilization of methane from a single small rural landfill will have 12x the climate effect and generate renewable energy to boot. #deploydeploydeploy
@DigiEconomist For a bit of perspective, landfills globally emit methane to the tune of 888 metric tonnes of CO2e every 10 seconds. The world has certain priorities, and worrying about jpegs isn't one of them.
Targeting methane emissions from unregulated landfills across the country could exceed the administration’s landfill capture goals, generate revenue for small communities and provide a sustainable energy source. Thanks @RealClearEnergy, more here: https://t.co/mec8AmhC2s
Thanks @AClimateChanges for hosting @Digital_Ore to discuss our solution to landfill methane mitigation and its role in addressing the climate crisis. Landfill methane is an under-utilized asset that can create value for small landfills and provide energy to the grid.
@Bquittem@thetrocro@WhatBitcoinDid If renewable energy development is a mountain, bitcoin mining represents a basecamp to allow you to rest and recover on your way to the top.
Thanks @mcjpod and @codysimms for the in-depth discussion. Really enjoyed our conversation, my DMs are open, happy to field any questions about our technology and approach to leveraging landfills as distributed generation assets.
Bitcoin is rife with controversy, but today’s guest is using it as a tool to halt landfill methane emissions. https://t.co/F3EkjVaON6
@codysimms & @Digital_Ore cover:
🚮 Landfill projects & EPA regulations
⚡️ Biogas & energy
💰 How @Vespene_Energy uses Bitcoin data processing
@shad0w239 @thetrocro @Endorsen @DSBatten@HaraldRauter@jyn_urso I don't think it will disrupt the voluntary carbon market, but rather open up a whole new world of project opportunities by combining with carbon credits for additional revenue streams.
@Jadki2009 Yes we have and it is definitely a viable space. However, most treatment plants have very high on-site power needs that typically exceed the amount of gas that is produced, and therefore generally the best use is to help power the facility to offset electricity costs.
@nz_fabs @DSBatten@lohstroh@thetrocro@NateHawaii The author completely glosses over the landfill sector, which is the area where bitcoin mining will have the largest impact over time from a methane reduction standpoint. Follow @Vespene_Energy to find out more
