@benz145 There's a whole retro game scene. C64 games, 8 bit console games etc - where the focus was on game play not the pretty. The crappy graphics (in today's terms) of the original Quake or Quake2 matter not. Both are more fun than most pretty FPS games today. "Gamers" my arse.

@GAMERTAGVR I reread the books most years and really wanted to like the TV take on it. I gave up though. Didn't buy into any of the characters. The whole thing felt slow and sterile.

@GAMERTAGVR Depends on the friend. I'd give them something that shows off environments and atmosphere first... how VR elevates feelings.. probably Propagation if they like shooters.. Then something old like Virtual Virtual Reality, or SuperHot, where its about VR storytelling and interface

@natsrambles I remember full price C64 games being £10-£15 (budget ones £1.99 and £2.99) (80s) MegaDrive games were £30-£40 (90s) Wii and xbox games £40 ('00s) There's a definite gamer acceptable price point ceiling around about the £40-£50 isn't there?

@natsrambles The relative value of things is weird. £14 to see a 2hr film at the cinema, so the game is about the cost of 4 cinema visits. £6 a game for tenpin bowling. 1game=ten minutes, so £60 = 1hr 40mins bowling. 3 course meal out for 2 = £60+ - BUT £60 for a game seems expensive

@thatoldgamerguy I want one, but I'm going to need to know a lot more about the custom face interface and prescription lenses. They spun it, but the impression I got was that it's very much a single user device. No sharing... and potentially difficult resale...
