India’s “Cockroach” movement is turning into a major challenge for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government. A youth-led campaign that began online has now brought thousands of students onto the streets of New Delhi, demanding the resignation of education minister over the NEET exam paper leak. Darshan Dalal reports.
Appearing before the Delhi High Court in the plea challenging the alleged police brutalities during the recent student protest over examination paper leaks, Senior Advocate Gopal Sankaranarayanan argued that judicial intervention was imperative to uphold the rule of law. He submitted that if the Court failed to intervene, it would effectively give the police "a licence to get away with absolutely anything because they have the sanction of their political masters."

▶️ #WATCH | Senior Supreme Court Advocate Mehmood Pracha @MehmoodPracha reached at Delhi's Jantar Mantar.
He talked with the media and said that :
➡️ I am telling you, listen carefully, all of you. I have a request for the corrupt police officers as well as the honest ones. Every single corrupt police officer is being recorded on video. We will not spare them.
➡️ The Constitution of India will not spare them. Keep this in mind. Those who have committed these excesses will be handpicked and the Constitution and law of India will ensure they are sent to jail.
➡️ And we, the lawyers, are the tools of that process. We understand our responsibility as lawyers, and I am very sorry and apologize for being late. I have already explained the reason, but now I have arrived with my entire team.
➡️ Lawyers will stand here like a shield. You want to take any legal action? No problem. No one will raise a stick.
➡️ And I have a request for the honest police officers: it is your responsibility to stop such corrupt people from attacking the owners, the citizens.
➡️ Secondly, you should make entries in your personal diaries that such and such officer performed this action today. If you want to save yourselves from the Constitution and law of India, this is my request to honest officers, even if you have to do it secretly, honest police officers should just collect evidence.
➡️ Our job as lawyers is to take on all those who are shedding the blood of children here, breaking bones, attacking them, and filing false cases.
➡️ I have the most experience in this country in getting children out of these false cases.

Legendary actor Naseeruddin Shah shares a video, fuming about the way youth were beaten up yesterday in Delhi. He reminds the government, “Sab yaad rakha jayega”
Thank you sir for your voice and solidarity 🙏
Indian Express reports that a minister’s meet led by Amit Shah yesterday decided that the government will not come under pressure and take any resignation from its ministers.
The logic being that the protesters ‘are not real students.’
@SeekWiser_ it was preparation. It nourished the soil, strengthened the roots, and made way for the most vibrant blooms. What I thought was hardship was actually grace in disguise. Sometimes, what we ask for isn’t given immediately, but what we receive instead is exactly what we need to grow
@SeekWiser_ #1 “I asked God for flowers, but He gave me rain. At first, I didn’t understand—why give me storms when I prayed for beauty? But in time, I realized that the rain wasn’t a denial;
