As we wake to the horrific news from Sri Lanka, we are reminded this Easter Sunday that Christians around the world are still persecuted for their faith. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of these evil attacks, their families and the people of Sri Lanka.
@grthlwr@AdamDandy Making the most of this nationally important monument would be brilliant for the city. It may well be that this failed Dee House project will finally help everyone to make the right decision. De-list Dee House! (new hashtag there, you're welcome!)
@AdamDandy 7. Remember, the southern part of the amphitheatre is scheduled under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979 as it is of "national importance". Why shouldn't we be making plans to show it off? https://t.co/dmXPAqeFlP
@AdamDandy 6. Once that admission has been made the process thereafter is surely simple? Apply to Historic England to have Dee House de-listed. Then demolish and start making plans to expose as much of Amphitheatre as possible. Am I missing something?
@AdamDandy 5. One has to question just how long is this embarrassing situation is going to be allowed to continue before someone admits that it is simply not viable to refurbish Dee House without disturbing the remains of the Amphitheatre beneath.
@AdamDandy 4. It is quite troubling that, almost 3 yrs on, the essential structural survey work still hasn't started. It is pretty obvious that @Go_CheshireWest is still miles away from receiving details of a "viable solution" for the refurbishment of Dee House.
@AdamDandy Just what is happening to the Dee House site? I think we need to know in clear/plain terms - not some sort of spin/waffle - just what are the realistic plans for sorting this area of our great city? With heightened interest following a positive w/e in the media, we need to know!
According to the official EU register of contracts, no contract has yet been awarded by CWAC for #DeeHouse as previously thought, and therefore that would indicate that no work on Dee House whatsoever has been carried out by Thwaites to date 🙈.
@AdamDandy 3. The objective of the procurement was to identify c.3 developers' to progress to the second stage of the selection evaluation, when they were to be invited to prepare a detailed viable solution for the refurbishment of this prominent landmark building.
@AdamDandy 2. This isn't really a political issue but unsurprisingly some people are determined to politicise it. So, for the record, who initiated and authorised this procurement process? Was it @CWaCTory or @cwaclabour ?
“Possibility for development where it can be shown that the ground disturbance involved would not penetrate beyond modern and early modern levels. English Heritage, Chester Amphitheatre.
Will @ThwaitesPubs & @Go_CheshireWest now accept that it is NOT possible to comply with the @EnglishHeritage requirement that to repair Dee House it must avoid disturbing the remains of the Amphitheatre that are known to exist at shallow depths alongside & beneath the building?
