PLEASE ALSO check out, Amnesty International UK (https://t.co/t4B6LRGj5G) to help end this exploitation of cobalt mining. Help today and donate to support our cause. With your help, you could support our work pressuring electronics giants to come clean about their supply chain.
We have been providing information on this issue to help influence your purchasing decisions regarding products that contain cobalt and thank you for supporting us throughout the week!!

Our solution today is to have firms that purchase cobalt to interact directly with the government to ensure their supply of artisanal cobalt is clean and ethical. To ensure the government complies with the standards necessary, we would want UN watchdogs to report and take action
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, "chronic exposure to cobalt-containing hard metal can result in a serious lung disease called 'hard metal lung disease'" – a kind of pneumoconiosis, meaning a lung disease caused by inhaling dust particles.
Environmental health issues in cobalt mining:
- Dangerous levels of radiation in mining areas caused by the burning of certain radioactive forms of cobalt
- The cleaning of cobalt in local rivers and water streams leads to severe pollution in clean/drinking water.
A small cost to end child mining is not a price big tech companies are willing to make. Companies will continue to get their supply no matter who is behind the scenes of producing. Child labour has been a big issue over the years, especially in this cobalt mining industry in DRC.
Welcome to our feed, @digupthetruth2! Over the next five days, we will be providing information on the current environmental injustice issue currently taking place in the mines of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Stay tuned!
