These defeats are not the failure of football or the players, but the result of Turkey being distanced from European and global culture, merit-based systems, and universal values.

When the Turkish National Team fails at the World Cup, everyone rushes to criticize the coach, the players, and what happens on the pitch.

Yet the real issue is who is running Turkish football and under what kind of system. In a country where a mafia-like figure, educated only at primary-school level and whose name has long been associated with organized crime and mafia connections, can become the president of the Turkish Football Federation, the problem cannot be reduced to results on the field.

Even more troubling is the silence of the media, football commentators, and large sections of the public. It is unrealistic to expect success in a system where loyalty is valued above merit, and personal connections outweigh competence and institutional credibility.

The problem is not simply losing matches. The real problem is the erosion of institutions, standards, and public trust. The results seen on the football field are merely a reflection of the way the system itself is governed.
