Department of Telecommunications delegation held a fruitful meeting with the AI-RAN Alliance at Mobile World Congress 2026. Alliance members showcased cutting-edge research and use cases of implementing AI in telecom networks.

For India, technologies such as resource allocation optimisation to dynamically orchestrate shared GPU resources between AI and RAN workloads were discussed, enabling monetisation of excess compute capacity.

University of Oulu, Finland, invited DoT to consider attending AI-RAN Alliance meetings as an observer and encouraged participation of Indian companies and research agencies to improve network efficiency and develop India-specific use cases.
