The President has assented to the #VandeMataram Amendment, passed without discussion in Parliament, which requires the singing of the National Song in full at the start and ending of any official function, in addition to the National Anthem.
As one who greatly respects both, and can sing the first two stanzas of the former (but not the other four, which were never required till now) as well as the entire anthem, i would like to point to just one practical consideration our zealots appear to have overlooked: human nature.
"Jana Gana Mana" requires audiences to stand respectfully and focus their attention for a reasonable 52 seconds. The National Song in full takes 3 minutes and 10 seconds. Tamil Nadu has just decided that both will be preceded by the State Song in Tamil for another 2 minutes. Do we really expect audiences to stand still and respectfully for six minutes before and after every function, a total of 12 extra minutes? Can respect and patience be legislated?
I fear that the intent of the Bill, to promote greater respect for the National Song , will not be achieved, but its opposite may well be....
A LOT of FAKE NEWS on the Spain and Morocco situation
They did not SWIM to Spain mainland. They crossed into Ceuta.
This is a small autonomous Spanish city located on the northern coast of Africa, sharing a land border with Morocco and serving as a key migration and trade center
It is very unfortunate that an Indian Ministry has to resort to cheap abuse tactics, threats and harassment, instead of proving me wrong.
The Government, through the National Commission for Homeopathy HAS THREATENED ME WITH CIVIL AND CRIMINAL PROCEEDINGS if I do not apologize for calling out Homeopathy as quackery/ fraud and delete my content on Homeopathy.
This is also the SAME Government who taxes me and other citizens like me, to FUND HOMEOPATHY and pay salary of these people in Homeopathy Public Institutes who have written this atrocious letter to me.
Dear @ForHomeopathy@moayush@secymoayush
Please find your conditions and my responses below, in public:
National Council for Homeopathy says: Therefore, for the first and last time, you are hereby called upon to:
i. Remove/Delete all the content uploaded by you on every Social Media Platforms which criticizes the Homeopathy Medicine or any other alternative medicine
My response: No I will not. My content are factual and science based. It follows Article 51A(h) of the Indian Constitution which outlines one of the Fundamental Duties for every citizen - "to develop the scientific temper, humanism and the spirit of inquiry and reform." In this regard, my content is based on my Constitutional Rights and against an pseudoscientific and unscientific practice like Homeopathy and is fully backed by evidence and facts. If you can prove all of those evidences wrong, I will remove all of my content on Homeopathy.
Homeopathy has been called many things before and I have only borrowed what has been highlighted in public domain and medical literature. Some of the sources for my online content is given below for your reference:
Homeopathy is pseudoscience: https://t.co/KKF1UZqrmu
Homeopathy is fraud and quackery: https://t.co/ehx1a7CsC9
Homeopathy is unscientific: https://t.co/dcrUlnqkFf
Homeopathy is witchcraft: https://t.co/rYbblwI5pC and https://t.co/8j53wwXIkv
If you can remove these sources, I will remove my content.
ii. Stop making, circulating or disseminating any further derogatory, defamatory remarks in future against Homeopathy and its practitioners
My Response: I cannot guarantee this. As doctors and scientists, it is our right to correct healthcare misinformation. Any further publicizing of unverified claims from the Homeopathy community - whether the Ministry, the practitioners or the industry, will be dealt with strong and aggressive corrective measures from the scientific community including me. For me to stop doing this, Homeopathy practitioners must stop claiming benefits of therapy and stop making misleading content online. Homeopathy community must keep quite and disappear to a corner, and then the scientific community will keep quite and let you be invisible in that corner. Homeopathy graduates on Instagram and Facebook keep creating content that they can cure cancer, treat chronic skin disorders, mental health conditions, diabetes and thyroid diseases and autoimmune conditions. First, ask them to stop that - then come to lecture me.
iii. Issue a public apology and clarification, through the same platforms on which the offending posts were uploaded, acknowledging deep regret for the use of defamatory expressions
My Response: First, The National Commission for Homeopathy and the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, Ministry of AYUSH, New Delhi, India MUST issue a issue a public apology and clarification, through all social media platforms , acknowledging deep regret for wasting public money on a fraudulent Homeopathy study which was RETRACTED for scientific fraud. See here: https://t.co/oDTf9JE58B and here https://t.co/bkgffy9VA9. Once your apology is in place, then I may consider an apology, after you prove me wrong, like I proved the scientific fraud in your retracted Homeopathy paper. It was a national disgrace.
iv. Furnish a written undertaking that you shall refrain from repeating such acts in future.
My Response: I am sorry, I wont be able to do that - because as a clinical doctor and medical scientist and medical teacher in India, as long as Article 51A(h) of the Indian Constitution is alive, I will repeat my education on unscientific practices for the benefit of the public.
This is my first and last time, calling upon the National Commission for Homeopathy and the Homeopathy community:
i. Refrain from sending me these hollow threats, first prove me wrong on all my points raised in my contents online (example: why is cockroach used to treat asthma - what is the pathogenetic basis and pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of it)
ii. Prove to the public that Homeopathy is not a pseudoscience or quackery by removing the original sources I have used to describe Homeopathy (links above) and all such sources which I will use in the future.
iii. Apologize to the Indian public PUBLICLY for wasting public funds that are used to publish scientific fraud
iv. PROVIDE A RESPONSE TO OUR PUBLIC INTEREST LITIGATION IN THE SUPREME COURT'S ORDER TO YOU - https://t.co/9Q4XYG7JrM - about why Homeopathy was used on population level scale that led to harm to public, wasting public money.
v: Send me an apology letter for wasting my time which could have been used to diagnose and treat patients at my place of work.
Do not try to gag voices that improve scientific temperament in this country, because you are anyway not doing anything to promote science in India.
@CaulfieldTim@EdzardErnst@TheSkepticMag@McGillOSS@RichardDawkins
With all the forced pseudoscience projects with questionable outcomes emerging from Indian Institutes of Technology across India, degrading decades of scientific credibility, mostly from political and religio-cultural agenda from the BJP and the Ministry of Ayush, this is a timely piece. Never before seen kind of "secret war" for those who really love this nation. Science community in India needs to be stronger than ever and come together to fight this spreading blight and growing rot. The hapless public deserve our candles in the dark.
A self-taught Irish schoolteacher wrote a book in 1854 that almost nobody read for 80 years, until a 21-year-old MIT student picked it up and realized it could be used to design every computer in human history.
His name was George Boole. The book is called An Investigation of the Laws of Thought.
Boole was born in 1815 in Lincoln, England. His family was poor. He left school at 16 to support them. He taught himself Latin, Greek, French, German, and Italian.
Then he taught himself mathematics. By 19 he had opened his own school. By 24 he was publishing original papers in the Cambridge Mathematical Journal, competing with men who had spent decades inside the best universities in Britain.
He never had a degree. He never had a mentor. In 1849, Queen's College in Cork hired him as a professor anyway.
In 1854, he published his masterwork. What he built inside it was something nobody had attempted before at this scale. He turned logic into algebra.
Before Boole, logic was philosophy. You argued in sentences. You reasoned in paragraphs. It was powerful and completely impossible to automate, because there was no formal system underneath it, just language.
Boole stripped it down to arithmetic. He showed that every act of human reasoning could be reduced to operations on two values. True or false. One or zero. AND, OR, NOT. If both conditions are true, the result is true. If neither is, the result is false. Every judgment a human mind makes, every decision, every deduction, could be written as an equation following those rules.
Logicians read it. They found it interesting. Engineers building machines had never heard of it.
For 83 years, the book sat there.
Then in 1937, a 21-year-old MIT master's student named Claude Shannon was working on a thesis about electrical relay circuits. Switches that could be open or closed. Current that either flowed or didn't.
He read Boole and understood something nobody had connected before.
An open switch is a zero. A closed switch is a one. A circuit with two switches in series only carries current when both are closed. That is AND. A circuit with two switches in parallel carries current when either is closed. That is OR. Shannon proved that every possible logical relationship Boole had described could be physically built using wire and switches.
That single insight is the foundation of every computer ever made.
After Shannon, chip designers stopped thinking about electricity and started thinking about logic. Every transistor on every processor running right now is implementing a Boolean operation. Every if-statement in every codebase is Boolean logic. Every database query using AND or OR. Every neural network threshold that fires or doesn't fire. All of it is running the algebra of a self-taught schoolteacher from Lincoln who died 160 years ago.
The strangest part is what happened to Boole at the end.
He was walking to class in November 1864 when he got caught in a rainstorm. He lectured for hours in wet clothes. He went home sick. His wife, Mary, believed in homeopathic medicine and thought the cure should mirror the cause. She wrapped him in wet sheets and poured cold water over him repeatedly.
He died a few days later. He was 49.
He never saw a transistor. He never saw a circuit. He never saw a single physical machine run a single one of his rules.
His book is in the public domain. Free to download. Most engineers use the word Boolean dozens of times a week. Almost none of them know who they are saying.
The man whose logic runs inside every phone, every server, and every AI model on Earth died soaking wet in a small Irish town, 83 years before anyone figured out what he had actually built.
One year late to watch it... Just Brilliant! Climax is literally The Climax. Strangely, feeling proud (and I don't know why!) #Moonwalk#Moonwalkmalayalam#Moonwalkmovie
#Drishyam3 Comparison is inevitable and probably it falls short against D2. But leave the comparison, it's still a very good watch. Mohanlal in top form, at his best in recent times. Sure shot winner!
#Patriot An interesting subject, good quality making, nice performances, brilliant female casting and awesome music. Not a mass movie, but still a pretty decent watch.
There’s something about Sanju, a grace in the air,
With a flick of the wrists and a nonchalant stare.
When the timing is crisp and the ball meets the wood,
He’s doing the things that we all wish we could.
From Jaipur’s bright lights to the Wankhede sun,
He builds up the pressure then goes on the run.
A century carved with a stylish command,
The "Chepauk" or "Durban," he masters the land.
No slogging or grafting, just effortless flight,
A hundred runs painted in strokes of pure light.
Though the wait may be long, when the milestone is due,
There’s simply no magic like Sanju’s breakthrough.

The liver's best friend is the muscle. Your liver listens to your muscles. Every type of movement has a different dose and a different benefit, all backed by trials. Here's the playbook, for you to include in your routine, whichever helps you maintain consistency.
Brisk walking
The most accessible liver medicine there is. 150 min/week cuts liver fat by ≥30% on MRI, and every extra 1,000 daily steps lowers your risk of developing fatty liver by ~12% (UK Biobank Study, 91,000 people).
Moderate-intensity cardio (MICT)
Steady jogging, cycling, or swimming at a "can talk, can't sing" pace. 30–45 min, 3–5 days a week for 12 weeks reduces liver fat by 2–4% (absolute) and drops liver inflammation (enzyme levels) significantly - even without weight loss.
High-intensity interval training (HIIT)
Short hard bursts - e.g., 4 minutes at 85–95% max heart rate, 3 min easy, repeated 4 times. In 12 weeks it cuts liver fat by 16–37%, improves heart function, and matches steady cardio in half the time.
Sprint interval training (SIT)
Even shorter, even harder - sessions under 15 minutes. 6 weeks reduces intrahepatic triglycerides by 12% and visceral fat by 17% in men with fatty liver (MASLD). Biggest liver benefit for the smallest time spent.
Resistance / strength training
Weights or bodyweight - squats, presses, rows, pulldowns. 3 sets, 3 times a week, 40–45 min. Reduces liver fat independent of weight loss, uniquely lowers liver enzyme, and is the single most important exercise for cirrhosis patients to prevent muscle loss (sarcopenia).
Combined aerobic + resistance
The gold standard. Network meta-analyses rank this combination as #1 for improving triglycerides, LDL, and total cholesterol in patients with fatty liver (MASLD) - better than either alone. If you only pick one strategy, pick this one.
Yoga (Hatha / Surya Namaskar) - these are not classical Yoga, but modernized versions.
For example: Surya Namaskar was developed into its current 12-posture sequence in the early 20th century, largely by the Raja of Aundh and later popularized by T. Krishnamacharya. T. Krishnamacharya also modernized classical Hatha Yoga into its globally known "dynamic" form. Classical Yoga is not useful for liver health as it is not aerobic. Plus classical Yoga is pseudoscientific in its principles of practice.
That said, 8-12 weeks of Asanas like Surya Namaskar, Ardha Matsyendrasana, Paschimottanasana, Naukasana - 3 sessions/week improves liver tests, insulin resistance, and fatty liver grade - especially in patients with type 2 diabetes plus fatty liver disease.
Pilates and core work
8 weeks of Pilates reduces body weight, body fat, liver enzymes, and liver fat on ultrasound. A joint-friendly option for people who can't run or lift heavy.
Tai Chi / Qigong
Low-impact mind-body movement, 30–60 min, 3 times a week. Improves glucose control, insulin sensitivity, and balance/ stability, muscle tone. Gentle enough for older patients, those with early decompensated cirrhosis, or people with poor cardiorespiratory fitness.
Exercise in cirrhosis
Even advanced liver disease responds well to exercise treatment! Combined aerobic + resistance training cuts serious events (death, major complications) from 12.3% to 5.6% in randomized trials, and prevents the muscle wasting that drives death events in cirrhosis patients.
So make physical activity your number one preference to maintain liver health and reduce liver disease.
#Aadu3 A bit of a lack of flow, longing for a bit more tight scripting etc, but the #Shajipappan magic works again! Missed more screen time for him. #Dude steals the show. BGM is huge, good quality making and some nice laughs. Winner!
