Seeing videos and photographs of @ManvendraJasol circulating across social media -- not for his public work or ideas, but for a deeply personal life decision -- has been truly heartbreaking.

For many, he is a former MP from Barmer-Jaisalmer, a former MLA, a writer, and the son of former Union minister Jaswant Singh. But beyond public life, those who know him have seen a humble, thoughtful individual -- a devoted father, a loyal husband, and a compassionate friend with a liberal outlook on life.

Two years ago, he lost his wife, Chitra Singh, in a tragic car accident -- a loss no public stature can soften. Grief changes people, and sometimes healing begins when companionship returns.

His decision to remarry at 60 should have been welcomed as a sign of hope. Instead, it has led to social judgement and even a purportedly family statement distancing itself from him, a descision reportedly rooted in caste and community boundaries. That is what makes this moment deeply painful.

The right to companionship and personal choice does not expire with age or social expectations. A widower choosing to rebuild his life is not rejecting tradition -- he is choosing to live again.

This episode reminds us that despite progress, remnants of feudal thinking still linger, where honour is placed above empathy and social identity above individual happiness.

For over thirteen years, I have known him as a gentle, reflective person whose conversations reflected openness and intellectual curiosity. Watching a deeply human decision reduced to gossip and outrage is disheartening.

Every individual deserves dignity in grief, freedom in love, and respect for personal choices.

Sometimes the sadness lies not in what a person chooses, but in how society responds.

अमेरिकी मीडिया रिपोर्ट के अनुसार ट्रंप को ईरान पर हमले के संबंध पूरी पुख्ता इंटेलिजेंस सूचना नहीं दी गयी।
कहा जा रहा है कि ट्रंप को इजराइल और कुछ दूसरे लोगों ने कंवींस किया कि ईरान के सुप्रील लीडर खामेनेई के
खात्मे के तु��ंत बाद हालात सामान्य और अमेरिका के पक्ष में हो जाएगा।उन्हें बताया गया कि सुप्रीम लीडर ��ी मौत के बाद ईरान में जनता स्वाभाविक तरीके से सत्ता परिवर्तन कर देगी जो अमेरिकी ईच्छा के अनुरुप होगा।उन्हें यह भी बताया गया कि ईरान इसके बाद किसी तरह का काउंटर अटैक करने की स्थिति में नहीं होगा।

लेकिन ऐसा नहीं हुआ। ईरान का काउंटर अटैक जारी है। सत्ता परिवर्तन भी अमेरिका के अनुरुप नहीं हुआ।

अगर अमेरिकी मीडिया की रिपोर्ट सही है तो इसमें कहीं न कहीं साजिश का भी एंगल है। पूरे इलाके को डिस्टर्ब
करने का। क्या कहते हैं?

जब पत्रकार ही पत्रकार की बात नहीं कर रहे तो बाकी क्यों करेंगे? हिंदू-मुस्लिम करने वाली पत्रकारिता के लिए ये खबर नहीं होगी क्योंकि इसमें कोई सेलिब्रिटी या सांप्रदायिकता नहीं है।

Jagdeep Chhokar’s passing is a colossal loss for the nation. He was a fierce crusader for democratic reforms in the country. Jagdeep ji was a dear friend and a co-traveller in the right to information movement. We worked closely on many issues, ranging from electoral bonds to transparency in the working of the Election Commission. A wonderful human being, he was completely dedicated to the cause of preserving democratic norms and institutions. He will be deeply missed. May he rest in power.

Jagdeep Sir often told me, "You can call me anytime, unapologetically, because you are the only journalist whose call I would always answer."
So, I called him this morning, hoping to hear his voice - but he didn’t answer. It was painful to accept that he has left us and is now in a better place.

He was a man of principles, who believed deeply in democracy and people’s rights. He spoke his mind fearlessly. He often got frustrated, but he never gave up. He believed in raising his voice against injustice.

He has left behind a deep void - one that’s very difficult to fill. But I’m sure those who believed in him and worked with him for a cause will continue to walk the path he showed, for the betterment of our society.

I’ve learnt a lot from him. He was my go-to person on all matters related to elections. This feels like a personal loss.

We shall meet again, Sir. I don’t know when, where, or how - but we shall meet again.
Till then, rest in peace… and keep guiding us.
