Most horror games use storms for atmosphere.
In Below The Blades, I’m trying to use the storm to make every choice worse.
The playtest is live on https://t.co/EfXn7kZ4cI
A new challenge for speedrunners… patience.
In Below The Blades, climbing too fast makes you slip, and risk falling.
So the fastest way up the turbine may actually be taking it slow.
The tortoise and the hare, but the tortoise is a monster trying to throw you into the ocean.
I built a climbing horror game around one horrible idea:
What if you had to repair something while hanging hundreds of meters above the ocean?
One hand keeps you alive.
One hand fixes the panel.
And stopping to catch your breath gives something else more time to find you.
Someone said my horror game playtest made them grip their mouse for dear life, which is exactly what I was hoping for.
Below the Blades is still early, but feedback is already shaping what it turns into.
Manual climbing, repairs, a storm, and something else climbing with you 👀
