14 August 1748: King Louis XV of France requested that Charles Edward Stuart leave France so as to facilitate peace negotiations between France and Britain at the end of the War of the Austrian Succession. Charles refused and Louis would later have him arrested and exiled.

Battle of Killiecrankie - 27 July 1689 ��

At dawn on the 27th, Lauder's detachment arrived at Moulin, finding the Pass of Killiecrankie unguarded and Lord Murray's men nowhere to be seen. Lauder continued through the Pass to secure the far end and reported back to Mackay.

Interesting record from Les Invalides. "Received at the Hotel on 28.05.1702. Theodore Conel, Irish, 40 yrs. Native from Co. Cork soldier in Dillons Regt, served 12 yrs, as in certificate. Had his left wrist cut off from a sabre slash he received at the Battle of Cremona

Bernera Barracks in Glenelg was the last of four highland barracks to be constructed following the Jacobite Rising of 1715. Ground was broken in early 1722 and construction was completed in April 1723. It overlooked the crossing to Skye and an important shipping channel.
