@sharghzadeh As a Muslim in Europe, the contrast is striking. Here we still rep the motherland and its divisions hard. In America, “Muslim” increasingly feels like an ethnicity in itself — a new identity forged in diaspora. Is Europe next? Could this eventually reshape the wider Muslim world?
I fucking love people who become more themselves with age. Stranger taste. Clearer boundaries. Louder laugh. Less interest in impressing random people. Watching somebody slowly stop auditioning for the world is fucking beautiful.
@BalaamAndDonkey Your opening claim was that no arab was poor. 2 replies later you are explaining who needs to feed the starving Arabs.
You are right , I don’t understand. I’m part of that inconvenient Muslim business elite - we prefer data.
When I come to Portugal it always strikes me that mass North American immigration is affecting local identity and life more than South Asian immigration (for example beaches being privatised which goes against our strongest traditions) and yet you only hear complaints against the latter. Evidence the issue is racism, not immigration
Kill the nice guy inside you and become ruthless. Life is rough on men, and the world will punish softness without boundaries. Stop begging, overexplaining, rescuing, and tolerating disrespect. Keep your heart, but lose the need to be liked.
