Alicent Hightower suffers arguably one of the loneliest and most tragic fates of any character in the entire history of Westeros.

Unlike her rival Rhaenyra, Alicent actually survives the Dance of the Dragons, but she is left with absolutely nothing.

By the time the war ends, Alicent has tragically outlived every single one of her children and grandchildren.

Her family tree is completely withered:
Helaena dies by suicide during the war.

Aemond dies in the Battle Above the Gods Eye against Daemon.

Daeron dies during the chaotic Second Battle of Tumbleton.

Aegon II is poisoned by his own advisors toward the very end of the conflict.

Her grandchildren; Jaehaerys, Maelor, and eventually Jaehaera, all meet brutal ends, leaving her with no direct descendants.

When Rhaenyra’s surviving son, Aegon III (Aegon the Younger), ascends the Iron Throne, the newly established regency council strips Alicent of all her political influence.

Because she is deeply distrusted and was accused of trying to manipulate the succession even after Aegon II's death, she is sentenced to life imprisonment.

She is confined entirely to her own rooms within Maegor’s Holdfast in the Red Keep, completely isolated from the rest of the realm.

The Fate of Addam Velaryon

When the Dance of the Dragons threatened to destroy House Targaryen, a humble bastard from Hull answered the call. Addam, the unacknowledged son of Corlys Velaryon, was chosen by the dragon Seasmoke, officially making him one of the "dragonseeds." Together, they helped turn the tide during the bloody Battle of the Gullet.

After Rhaenyra successfully captured King's Landing, Addam was tasked with guarding the capital. Meanwhile, the other dragonseeds, Ulf and Hugh, were dispatched to halt the advancing Hightower army. But in a shocking twist, Ulf and Hugh betrayed the Blacks, unleashing their massive dragons, Vermithor and Silverwing, onto the very town they were meant to protect. Tumbleton was utterly incinerated.

With Team Green now in possession of the two largest active dragons, Rhaenyra’s cause was pushed to the brink. Consumed by fury and paranoia, she ordered the immediate arrest of all remaining dragonseeds, including Addam, who hadn't even been at Tumbleton.

Before he could be seized, Corlys Velaryon managed to warn his son, allowing Addam to escape the capital on Seasmoke. Addam didn’t flee to save his own skin; he fled to prove a point. Determined to show the realm that bastards are not inherently turncloaks, he flew to the Riverlands and rallied a fresh, small army.

Addam marched his new forces back toward Tumbleton under the cover of night. The Second Battle of Tumbleton began with a surprise aerial ambush. Diving repeatedly through the dark, Addam burned the sleeping Hightower army inside their tents. It is written that Daeron Targaryen was among those who perished in the burning chaos.

But amidst the blood and carnage, the riderless Vermithor, the Bronze Fury, erupted into madness, slaughtering Green and Black soldiers alike. Seeing the slaughter, Addam felt honor-bound to protect the Rivermen he had led into battle. He made the ultimate sacrifice, slamming Seasmoke directly into the larger dragon.

The two beasts crashed to the earth locked in a horrific storm of fire and blood. Though Seasmoke was torn apart, Vermithor also died from his wounds shortly after.

Addam of Hull, a simple shipyard deckhand who lived in the shadow of the Sea Snake stepped up when the realm needed him most. He shattered the Westerosi prejudice that bastards are naturally treacherous. After the war, his brother Alyn recovered his bones and brought him home to Driftmark. On his tomb, a single word was carved: LOYAL.
