@MrKyleStP@darwintojesus Isaiah 53 isnt 'clearly' the Davidic Messiah. Context fits righteous remnant of Israel
God charged Abraham's children to uphold justice & righteousness
According to Isaiah, how would Israel be redeemed? Justice & righteousness by repentance, or the Davidic Messiah's sacrifice?
@MrKyleStP@darwintojesus 14th & 16th century? Okay?
Origen confirms Jews held servant = Israel views early
Targum Jonathans interpretation is messianic, but he distinguishes the suffering exclusively for the nation of Israel & the triumphant language exclusively for Messiah
Never a suffering Messiah
@MrKyleStP@darwintojesus About 90% of Isaiah is considered poetry. Isaiah 53 is one of four servant poems found in 40-55
The singular "He" usage metaphorically represents a collective Israel
This is clear in Isaiah 43:10:
"You are my witnessES (plural), & my servant (singular)"
@MrKyleStP@darwintojesus 53:10
Hebrew sources say "asham," which means a guilt offering
The gentile nations who afflicted the Israelites in exile realize their GUILT after Israel's vindication & repent (Israel as a light to the nations)
The remnant fits offspring & prolonged days better than Jesus too
@MrKyleStP@darwintojesus 53:9
Why couldn't this be referring to the righteous remnant of Israel?
Zeph 3:11โ13 is about purging. But whoโs being purged?
The arrogant, the rebellious, the proud
Whoโs left?
The humble and lowly who take refuge in YHWH
That is the remnant
@MrKyleStP@darwintojesus Then name ONE Hebrew Bible prophecy you think he fulfilled in it's plain context
"If" Jesus is the promised Davidic Messiah, surely you could name one
@Jawntz@darwintojesus The common apologetic I see regarding this issue claims the Jechoniah curse was lifted in Haggai 2:23 with Zerubbabel
The problem with that is the Jechoniah curse is about who gets to sit on the Davidic throne in Judah
Zerubbabel was a governor under Persian rule. Not a king
@Jawntz@darwintojesus I don't think Jesus was the Davidic Messiah & i think both genealogies demonstrate that
According to Matthew, Jesus' genealogy includes Jechoniah/Coniah whose lineage was cursed to never again sit on the throne of David in Judah (i.e. the Davidic Messiah)
Jesus is disqualified
@Jawntz@darwintojesus Without relying on church tradition from the 2nd century CE (Julius Africanus), how do you know that Luke's genealogy actually belongs to Mary?
Both Matthew & Luke's genealogy explicitly cite Joseph
What textual evidence actually supports Luke's genealogy belonging to Mary?
@Jawntz@darwintojesus According to the Hebrew Bible, the Davidic Messiah will come from BOTH David & Solomon's lineage
However, Luke's genealogy goes through David's son Nathan instead of Solomon
Nathan never reigned as king, never built the temple, never had sons become kings. Why bypass Solomon?
