Today we remember one of the world's greatest scientists: Marie Skłodowska Curie, who died #OTD in 1934.
Curie was the first person to be awarded the #NobelPrize twice and is still the only person to receive the prize in two different scientific fields.
✨ As is tradition at Poltair, our current Year 10’s gathered to form a guard of honour, celebrating with & supporting our Year 11 students as they left the school site on one of their last days here.
It's been an amazing journey & we are so proud of all they've accomplished. 🌟
This Good rating is a testament to the collective effort of our local community, staff, and students, without whom this achievement wouldn't have been possible #Poltair
Our Poltair Prom Donations Appeal is now live! As we gear up for an unforgettable celebration with our students, we're reaching out to our amazing community for support. Do you have any pre-loved dresses, shoes, suits, or accessories? 🤵👗🎩

I actually want to cry, I feel so ashamed of our government today. Rishi Sunak has done nothing for women, last week his ministers argued against stopping child sex abusers having access to their children. There is no femicide strategy, they've impoverished most victims.
The hideous acid attack in south London is another sickening example of misogyny - of how hatred of women is embedded in every culture.
Every day, men across the UK and the world attack, maim and kill women.
Every culture, every ethnicity, every creed, every social class.
You may have heard of Up Helly Aa, Shetland’s viking fire festival. What you might not know is that for decades, people have campaigned to allow women and girls to be participate in the main festival. This year, for the first time, women and girls participated. Just wonderful.

Remembering the first woman to be awarded a Nobel Prize, the first individual to be awarded two Nobel Prizes and still today the only individual with two Nobel Prizes in two different scientific categories: Marie Skłodowska Curie.
Curie was born #OnThisDay in 1867.
It’s been fantastic to welcome over 1000 guests to our Open Evening tonight.
We hope those who attended found the evening informative & have left with a greater understanding of our school, our values & what we have to offer our young learners. #buildingconfidenceandcharacter
Last night we held our Year 11 Success Evening - helping students prepare for the final year of their Poltair Journey. Thank you to our exhibitors and staff are making it all possible! #WeArePoltair
As a woman working in the same institute as her husband Maria Goeppert Mayer was not allowed to hold a paid position and did most of her Nobel Prize-winning research unpaid. She was only appointed to her first paid position in 1960.
