@SaulStaniforth Shameless comment. Politicians should comment on whatever they want, including and especially the conduct and character of public figures on the public payroll.
@rogermosey They’re entitled to criticise the media and publish their own version of events. One does not exclude the other or make them hypocritical. No fan of any of them, but this is a knee jerk media defence.
Earl Spencer here describes the “cancerous effect” of daily negative news headlines & how that impacted, Diana Princess of Wales.
King Charles is 77 years old, living with cancer & faced negative headlines this week arising from the Earl’s book which he serialised in the Mail.
In @TheSun Princess Diana told me that Charles DID love her and her brother Earl Spencer's attacks would horrify her. By @RoyalBiographer Ingrid Seward https://t.co/KcfLmgZRL3
NEW - The Queen will speak about her late father’s autobiography in a BBC documentary, The Book That Changed My Life, next month. Today Camilla extolled the “life-enhancing power” of books at her Reading Room festival @ChatsworthHouse@EmilyPrescott30👇🏼

Harry tells his story “he’s lying"
Charles Spencer tells his “he’s lying"
You can’t keep dismissing every account that doesn’t fit YOUR preferred version of history. They're the main characters ffs!! Not some randoms writing a book with an aunt who may know someone at the palace!
Charles Spencer is Diana’s brother. He was there. He lived through the loss of his sister. He is entitled to tell HIS story.
And for those asking, “Why has he waited so long?”- grief doesn’t have a deadline. I’ve lost a sibling myself, and I know that sometimes it can take many years before you’re ready to talk about it.
There has been plenty of talk over the years about the character and conduct of Charles, including from royalists and biographers, which makes Spencer’s accusations entirely plausible. The shrill responses from royalists now is all about protecting the royals.
Richard Kay, Daily Mail:
“….Spencer and I also spoke several times during that week and he told me certain things about Prince Charles, which he told me in confidence, which I too noted down, and they chime very much with the revelations he has made in the book.”
#R4today I’m disgusted by Dimbleby casually saying that Princess Diana was paranoid. It’s a medical term and we should challenge all commentators who use such terms about someone who they disagree with. It also smacks of how the misogynist Establishment still thinks of her.
Kate makes climbing down from a tractor look effortless and jokes with Isle of Bute locals she is going for a swim in the ice-cold sea https://t.co/r6TTnWXNsu
