@OzSalmond@MacroMatrix1@shanaka86 You're both right. That's why China is restricting rare earth exports to the US, so there could be less chaos in the world.
@True_Patriot776@SandyofCthulhu How do you figure that? They're pretty good in cutting edge software as you can see with their AI models, except unlike AI models they don't have a disadvantage in hardware. In fact, they're the leader in power semiconductors due to their extensive use in EVs, renewables, etc.
@clashreport I also looked at a globe, and found that the Czech Republic lies right between Russia and Germany. Therefore it stands to reason that the Czech Republic should be given to Germany, as it once was in the early 40's.
@RushDoshi Mr. Doshi, it doesn't matter what your intent is. China clearly sees high tech manufacturing as key to avoid the middle income trap. As such, export controls are viewed by them as an attempt to keep the entire country from advancing to developed status.
@Gobos_@SecScottBessent I thought innovation can only happen with free thinkers in a democracy, what tech could a communist country possibly develop that we'd want?
@TempusTactica@unusual_whales It's a power semiconductor company, which is used in anything that uses a lot of electricity and is digitally controlled (e.g. EVs, high power radars, etc.). It was the world leader in this field, and in fact I think still leads the world in production capacity.
@burlapDD @YTortamis @PJ11819211 Way ahead of you there here in America! Economic indicators not passing the vibe test is how the Dems lost the election.
@GlennLuk@DanCollins2011 Right, and the execution requires investing heavily in education and infrastructure, things that cost a lot for a long time with little direct ROI for the investors. That's how it worked for other East Asian countries as well.
@Hi5FromBriGuy @christianbora @AISafetyMemes@DarioAmodei Doesn't it actually prove his argument? China can freely purchase Airbus or Boeing's best and latest aircrafts, and this lack of constraint probably contributes to their slow progress in developing their own civilian aircraft manufacturing industry.
